STEM stands for Science, Technology, Education, and Mathematics. It is a recently popular type of learning system. It is a multi-disciplinary process to educate students. STEM classrooms consist of project-based kind of learning. STEM not only concentrates on science and maths but other sectorial platforms are included in their curriculum. STEM is also known as STEAM which includes Arts in it. In this visual art, design and languages are included. Likewise, another type of STEM is STREAM which involves Reading and writing.
STEM learning system develops a problem-solving approach, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, digital literacy, innovation, technological skills, and communication. Problem-solving and project-based encourage to development of a special mindset in learners in terms of curiosity and flexibility to respond to real-world challenges.
In today's technological fields automation, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and AR/VR topics and subjects are introduced in this, learning system which is interesting, interactive, and fun-loving. Since the year 2011, STEM learning is vigorously giving outcomes across India.
As in every education system, the teacher plays an important role. The Educator, the trainer, and the teacher create interest in such fields and subjects and creates a learning environment where students learn the concept clearly and gain knowledge and relate it to real-time applications.
STEM learning is promoted as the world is dependent on it, it's creating future professions or future leaders which can shape them for a better future. This learning system bridges the gender gap. It focuses on gaining hands-on experience in real-life application, creativity, and 21st-century skill sets. A better understanding of what is STEM learning program and what it consists of as a learning medium is important.
Tomorrow's job = STEM jobs
STEM commits employees to teach coding in robotics. It guides students to prepare and participate in international-level competitions. There is a demand for jobs related to STEM. In early childhood age, sports and academic studies make them active and ready for learning new things. This learning program creates a scientific discipline in them.
There is major scope for STEM in India, it has made changed the traditional education system. The education leads to gaining experience and knowledge equivalent to a 3-4 year Bachelor's program. It also advances entrepreneurship and the international startup community carries declaration to it.
The advantage of this program is it prepares for the workforce, provides future career potential and bridges the gap between male and female workers, etc. The disadvantage of this learning program is it doesn't start early enough, is elitism, and lacks clear-cut standards.
The schools, and institutes must provide standard labs, storage, and material. The curriculum should be clear-cut, classroom management should be better, and teachers and guides should be provided the adequate teaching aid and templates needed for the learning program. In the future, STEM graduates will excel with high pay, and better job opportunities will be there, helping the community, traveling the world, etc. This learning program has flourished worldwide.
