Fed up with all the thrilling, inspiring, suspense movies, I thought of watching some peaceful movie. The name “Bao” didn’t attract me much nor even the language of movie. While downloading, details showed me that it’s an old movie and it’s too short that I doubt whether it can satisfy my unquenchable thirst for a calm movie. Thought to give a shot, I watched it. Once I finished watching Bao, only one word to describe -"Its Fantabulous". I never knew a film could hit me so hard without any language just with a background music. This is the first for me. 

Each situation in the movie is etched deep in my heart, so that I would know when I act like the mother in that movie. There are no words to express how Domee Shi(Director and Writer of the movie Bao) expressed a mother’s feelings for their children. As I am a mother of three kids, I can completely digest the feelings of the mother in Bao. Not only for mothers , for any loved ones this movie is an eye opener. In the movie- Cinderella, the only thing I remember is “Love is free. Kindness is free”. Here Domee Shi express the same love in a different way that, if you leave the love behind, the person who loved and cared you, can kill that love for not to leave you. In some situations especially when a relationship doesn’t work well, it doesn’t seem so easy for the most affected person to move on. They often fall in depression and in case of a mother it’s a loneliness void which cannot be filled by anyone else presence.

When my kindergarten kids watched this film along with me, they kept asking me whether I will eat them if they try to leave me. They literally got shocked when the mother got emotional and ate the dumpling son. Even though I told them it’s a dream of that mother, they really doubted me whether I have any plan to eat them when they fail to obey what I say. To increase their fear, I will act like eating them when I walk here and there at my home. At the end of the movie, husband (who was very busy in the beginning) giving attention to his wife and making situation for the mother-son re-bonding. The film does have a happy ending uniting all. May all parents have a happy life with their children.
