Kia announces in december last year carens, a new three-row product for the indian market.  Carens made his global debut in india.  By the way, this country will also be the only production base for both domestic and exort purposes.  Scheduled to launch in february, carens is kia's third mass market product for india, aimed at providing customers with SUV styling using practical MPVs.  Below is a summary of the most important details you need to know about carens.

     Carens is based on an enhanced version of the Seltos platform in typical kia fashion, it gets a high quality and feature-rich interior provided by two gasoline engines and one diesel engine.

KIA CARENS - DIMENSIONS:

     Kia carens, like Hyundai Alcazar, is based enhanced version of the Creta/seltos platform.  The carens is 4,540mm long, 1,800mm wide, 1700mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm.  Compared to seltos, the carens are 225mm longer, 80mm higher and the wheelbase is 160mm longer.  But what's really interesting is that carens is longer, wider and taller than alcazar, which is 4,500mm long, 1790mm wide and 1,675mm high.  The wheelbase is also longer than Alcazar's 2760mm.  In fact, carens has the longest wheelbase in this segment.  Toyota is longer overall length.  but 30mm longer than toyota innova crysta.  The dimensions certainly show a spacious interior.

KIA CARENS - EXTERIOR DESIGN

     Kia carens has a very unique presence, to say the least.  It has MPV proportions, but it also gets some styling clues from the SUV.  On the front is an impressive split LED headlight assembly and a closed grill housed in a contrasting glossy rear cowl.  The grill also features several 3D patterns and brushed silver inserts for added brilliance.  Below, the style of the front bumper is smoother, but with the addition of a central air intake gap.  In fact Kia's signature “Tiger Nose” motif, though very suitable, is mounted on the bumper rather than on the grill.

     In profile, the carens shows some resemblance with the seltos until the front doors, though the rear doors are much longer and it also gets a larger rear quarter glass area. The window line gets a chrome garnish and there's a strong character line that starts from the headlamps, blends into the doors and then emerges at the rear to meet the taillamps.  At the rear, the carens gets a pair of wraparound LED taillamps that are connected via a slim LED strip.  The rear windshield is slightly raked and also features an integrated spoiler. to the front, the rear bumper is also aggressively styled with silver inserts.  The upright posture and all-around cladding of the body give it the characteristics of an SUV.

KIA CARENS - INTERIOR DESIGN

     In typical kia fashion, carens interior is very well appointed with high quality materials and a clean dashboard.  Interestingly, the dashboard is very deep and stretches well towards the windshield, thanks to the slight cab-toward design typical of MPV's.  The interior also has a clean layered effect and the infotainment system is neatly integrated into the dashboard.  The dashboard trim and door panels also have a fine touch that adds jazz to the interior. 

      Below the upper half of the AC vents are seamlessly integrated across the width of the interior, It also features a new touch-based panel with taggle switches for manipulating climate control, with surrounding lightening panels highlighting all of this.  The center console is short and crouched and has additional controls such as seat ventilation, operating mode and more.  Carens is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, the former being the second row of caption seats.  The third row seats don't seem to be the least generous in terms of space.

KIA CARENS - FEATURES

     Being a kia car, the equipment list is a big highlight of carens.  Carens top spec variations come with 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple carplay, android auto and kiaUVO connect.  It also features an all-digital instrument cluster, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, audio controls, voice commands and a multifunction steering wheel with buttons for calls, similar to seltos and sonet.        

     In particular carens gets a roof-mounted air conditioning vent to help cool the rear, eliminating the possibility of future panoramic sunroofs.  Carens gets only a single-pane sunroof.  Other highlights include 64-color ambient lightening, ventilated front seats, seat back tables with cup holders, electric one touch tumble down for the second row, and an air purifier.  Kia has a particular focus on carens safety features with all models equipped with six airbags, ABS, ESC, Hill Start Assist, disc brakes, TPMS and rear parking sensors on all four ends as standard increase.
