Has anyone took a moment to think why are we learning? What is our reason or intention behind acquiring knowledge? Some may say that we are learning so that we see ourselves as well educated or well civilized or to find a better job or to earn really good salary or to teach our children or others etc etc….
I want to share a message I received yesterday which I felt that must be shared among mass of people so that we purify our intentions behind everything we do or learn.
The mesaage is :
Hazrat Mufti Taqi Usmani Sahib asked a question to a student during his speech in Bait us Salam Tala Gang.
Question: Tell me, brother, why do you want to acquire knowledge? What is the purpose of acquiring knowledge?
Answer: The student answered that to serve the religion.
On this, Hazrat said that this is also a delusion from Satan. Understand well that the goal of acquiring knowledge should be self-improvement. You will be able to correct others only when you correct yourself. If knowledge is obtained without the intention of self-improvement, then there will be no blessing in it, that knowledge will be without light of faith. That is why Imam Bukhari, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, brought a hadith with the intention of correcting it at the beginning in his book Bukhari Sharif.
Very few among us intend to acquire knowledge for self-improvement like 1 or 2 out of 100 to 1000. Moreover when we learn a thing first we must imply it in our life until it becomes our habit then we must tell others about it. Because of this it will b easier for them to practice it immediately or at least later. When we tell others to do something which we don't do, they end up taunting us on our face or at least within their heart as "they don't practice but advises us to do it". Now the issue is not about the taunt but the good act which must be practiced will remain without practice in our life.
Thank you for reading. Please like and share with others.
