Our Fundamental Nature

We are made to seek happiness. And it is clear that feelings of love, affection, closeness and compassion bring happiness. I believe that every one of us has the basis to be happy, to access the warm and compassionate states of mind that bring happiness.

Our physical structure seems to be more suited to feelings of love and compassion. We can see how a calm affectionate, wholesome state of mind has beneficial effects on our health and physical well-being. Conversely feelings of frustration, fear, agitation and anger can be destructive to our health.

We can also see that our emotional health is enhanced by feeling of affection. To understand this we need only to reflect on how how we feel when other show us warmth and affections or observe how our own affectionate feeling or attitude automatically and naturally affect us from within, how how they make us feel. These gentler emotion and the positive behaviours that go with them lead to a happier family and community life.

Generally speaking, a mind is predominantly directed towards external objects. Our attention follows after the sense experience us. Normally our awarenesses directed towards physical sensory experience and mental concepts. But in this exercise what you should do is to withdraw your mind inward; don't let it chase after or pay attention to sensory objects. At the same time don't allow it to be totally withdrawn that there is a kind of a dullness or lack of mindfulness.

A state in which your consciousness is not afflicted by thoughts of the past, the things that have happened your memories and remembrance nor is it afflicted by thoughts of the future like your future plans anticipations, fears and hopes but rather try to remind in a natural and neutral state.

happiness, in psychology, a state of emotional well-being that a person experiences either in a narrow sense, when good things happen in a specific moment, or more broadly, as a positive evaluation of one's life and accomplishments overall—that is, subjective well-being.

People from around the world tend to have a similar concept of happiness and can recognize happiness in others. As a result, the specific emotion of happiness is often included as one of a small number of basic emotions that cannot be broken down into more fundamental emotions and that may combine to form other, more complex emotions (in fact, it is sometimes the only positive emotion that is considered to be basic). Thus, happiness is an important concept for researchers who study emotions.
