Do you believe in Dreams?
Do you believe that our dreams are basically our subconscious mind sending us a message or trying to tell us something? That our brain is communicating with us, trying to talk to us?
Well, I don't know about you but I believe so.
So what I do is, whenever I wake up in the morning, I grab my journal and write down whatever I remember and if I don't have my journal around me, I simply write it down in my notes app. This way I at least remember my dream because we remember very little of what we actually dreamt about and the more we delay this writing or even if we move our arms and legs a little, we forget more of it. So writing it down is definitely an important thing to do.
Then comes looking for the meaning of what I dreamt about. A simple google search suffices it or if you prefer the old school way then I'll leave the links to a couple of books down.
Now comes the tricky part, not all your dreams will have meaning neither the whole of your dream will mean something. It's more about looking for certain highlights or some specific things. Once you do it for a couple of times, you'll know what to look for or what was the highlight of your dream.
One advisory caution though, don't believe everything you read about your dream, take them with a grain of salt. Understand what it is saying and then try to connect it with what's happening in your life. If you find a connection, well and good. In case not, you can write that down for your reference, it'll also help build the habit.
Not all dreams will make sense or mean something, not all dreams will send you a message, some dreams might just be a magnified reflection of what happened to you during the day. With time you'll understand the pattern and will be able to discern what is what easily.
Let me tell you one of my dreams, what it meant and how it reflected in my life. The dream that I saw was:
“I was going out with a couple of my friends (unrecognizable faces) and we were going around some city when some gangsters came and kidnapped us and didn't really let us enjoy anything” After that it got a bit blurry and I don't remember what happened but soon soon I found myself trapped in a small room with only a door and small window. “As I was sitting there in that small room, I heard the door open and some men came observed me and they went out. As they closed the door, a green snake jumped up from behind the door and pounced on me” And that's when I woke up.
I jotted it down in my journal and went back to sleep as it was still early. When I finally woke up, I looked for the meaning of it in Google and on a couple of websites found that “Green is the symbol of spring, hope, and good sensations; pointing to the fact that good luck, joy, and prosperity are coming your way”.
My semester results were declared a couple of days later unannounced and I scored 89% (no, I'm not bragging), but that happened and you can see how the meaning of my dream translated into my real life!
That was just one example of it, I've had plenty and believe me once you get used to this, you'll start enjoying it. You'll want to know what is it that your brain is trying to tell you. It's almost like a thriller TV Series where with every dream, you uncover something. (Hey that is a brilliant idea for a novel, maybe I should work on that). But you get my point right?
I don't want this to be any longer, so this'll be the last para. But do let me know whether this piqued your interest in the whole Minds trying to communicate by commenting down below, then I might write more about it in more details and cover more of my personal experiences.
Happy Reading! :)
