Instagram is aphoto and video sharing social networking service commonly abbreviated to IG or Insta. This app was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Later it was acquired by Facebook in April 2012.
Is allows users to upload photos, which can be edited using different filters, videos, IGTV videos. In November 2019, Instagram had begun to pilot a new feature known as Instagram reels which is similar to a chinese app Tiktok. Instagram rolled out this feature in India after the ban of Tiktok app. Reels can also be edited with the help of filters just like photos and have a time limit of 15 seconds (later 30 seconds).
According to the recent reports, people are facing some device hanging issues when they are playing a particular type of reel or story video posted on some IG accounts. Some people named it as Mr. Hacker's video or Mr. Robot's video.
An Instagram user whose name is PG Talal is an Android Developer at Instagram posted this Instagram story and reel firstly. Possibly he knows about glitch in the application.
Technical point behind this hanging issue is buffer overflow actually
You can add so many things on an Instagram story like questioning poles, stickers, emojis and much more data like this and resize them as per your convenience. Editing a story or you can say a data block in such a way that it contain so much data (information) which exceeds the storage limit of an application, then the system hangs or crashes.
If the data stored inside an application exceeds the alloted capacity to hold it, then the system faces problem to hold it and thus crashes out.
There is no such a big technical thing inside this fact. Freezing can also happen when you try to view a very very big memory sized HD (high definition) image in your device. Because your device doesn't have capability to handle such a big file size. There isn't any magic behind it.
Similar incident also happened years ago on WhatsApp. A message containing some black coloured characters, when sent to a person crashed his/her WhatsApp and device. Reason behind it is that your device can't handle so much data in the form of a message.
