For many Indians, hill stations are always a favorite holiday destination. Almost every family has once planned to visit the “pahars” and enjoy the cool breeze and fresh air. Hill stations are always synonymous to vacations, holiday and school trips but seldom home for majority.
Those of us who live in the hills, including myself are a little privileged, I must admit! Yes, we do not have the instant fast services and luxuries of a city but our surroundings surpass any materialistic luxuries.
The views we have at sunset, sunrise or even the clear hills after a pouring rain are unmatched. The surreal feeling it leaves on all, tourists and locals alike! So, those who live in hill stations get to continuously be amazed by nature's beauty. Many may say, we're used to the great view, doesn't make us go gaga and so on. But I tell you, we are always in awe, because the view is never tiring.
Hill stations are always cool and the sweltering summer is not found here. In fact, it may get too cold in the winters. But the summers are always welcomed. The weather is too just good not to love staying in the hills. To add to this, the greenery and fresh air of hill stations are what everyone likes.
You may feel a little chilly at night, but you'll find the warmest of people. Since most hill stations are small and quaint, almost everybody knows everybody. Most hill stations are small, you may be done with roaming the entire town in a day. But, little things have there own way of giving joy!
Almost all hill stations have unique cuisines and some of the best bakeries, thanks to the Britishers! Most North Indian hill stations were once summer getaways for British officers, so you'll find reminiscence of the Colonial history in such towns in the architecture, food, cultures and town traditions.
So the when we return to normal and travelling is safer, you must pack your bags and visit the nearest hill station for once in your life. Experience the cool breeze against your face, have a hot sip of tea standing in the chilly evenings, try that local cuisine, do the most touristy thing at that place and enjoy the much loved hill stations!
We've seen how unpredictable life is, and that there is nothing we can take from here. The least we can do is make some good memories.
