When WhatsApp introduced the users for their privacy policy for the first time, that topic become center of attraction for everyone. People were talking, posting and tweeting about how WhatsApp is going to use and share the personal information of users for their business expansion and marketing strategy.
Responding to the same, WhatsApp clarified that they are not going to disclose users sensitive personal information like chats, images, etc. In addition, the company said that only limited information will be collected from the users like the group names, group icons, phone numbers, etc.
Many users switched to Signal app due to privacy concerns. Signal is also a messaging app which provides it's all features free of cost as it is an American Non-Profit Organisation. News gone viral when a screenshot claiming that βMark Zuckerberg is using Signal app.β People were blaming WhatsApp after this, because according to them if Facebook CEO is not using WhatsApp, there must be a big reason behind it.
This doesn't seems less than a punishment for the users because the main purpose of WhatsApp is to connect with each other mainly by chatting and sharing images, voice messages, locations etc. If all these features will be stopped or limited to use, there will be no advantage of using WhatsApp.
When you open the app, a notification pop-up appears on the screen informing you about the changes in privacy policy and new terms of service. Take some time and open the detailed privacy policy and go through it asap.
Deadline to accept the new privacy policy changes is 15th of May, 2021. Better is to take your decision before this deadline.
