Hey gang!!!
I hope everyone's doing good.Especially at this time during quarantine and lockdown time.See now when I say “ I hope everyone's doing good” Iam not only referring to your physical health but also mental health.Many might be wondering what's the difference, both are same. Yes!! Both are same but mental health is given lesser importance . Many don't find it to be a good enough reason to take rest.
For example: Let's consider Ria ,who works at a restaurant as a waitress but she has been feeling down for few days but her owner doesn't give her leave unless she is really not well(falling sick really).So she cannot tell the actual reason for her leave (she is depressed and she needs help with that) ,so she makes up a reason saying she has a severe headache and she can't work.That is when her boss is convinced that she needs rest and grants leave.
Often people think that depression is same as feeling sad.But it is much more worse than feeling sad because this sadness will take over someone's entire day or week or months.
Also sadness will have some particular reason like no salary or breakup or family problems .This sadness can be gone if these problems are solved .Where as in case of depression , sometimes it doesn't have any reason at all.A person can have everything in the world like a palace ,a brand new car ,a beautiful and loving family but still he can be depressed for no reason at all. Scientists are still working on this because human feelings is really complicated and is a mixture of various parameters. Depression is something that creeps into you when you are laughing happily with your friends in a cafe at 3 pm . It's like sudden wave of sadness that just takes over you without any reason at all . This is why many invalidate such feelings because it has no reason ,so many people don't think they have it or it has to be shared.
It's really unfortunate that many are not educated about this but only people who experience it are aware of it. The problem is when a depressed person tries to share what they're going through to a friend and that friend wouldn't actually understand that depressed person because that friend was never depressed.This makes the former person feel bad because no relates to them and makes them more alone.
Depression is not just sadness ,it needs a lot of caring and love to get make it better
