Well to grow money donot keep all your eggs in one basket. Make hedging an important tool.
Today we shall talk on hedging and power of compounding.
Look at current scenario of you had invested in real eastate only and relied on rents may be you might have had a tough time.Same is true for fixed deposits whose rate have reduced drastically. If you look at the FD rate in 2000 it was 12-14 % which is now reduced to 4 to 7% so almost half in this 20 years time and day by day it is reducing.
Contrary to that commodity and stocks market have given phenomenal return. Even gold have given phenomenal return. So it is always necessary to diversify based on one’s age and risk profile.
Now lets talk of power of compunding. It means amount re invested for a period of time in perticular security with steady rate of return would always give better return than investing lumsum amount.
Say you have a window of 1.5 lakhs in 80c which can be invested in ppf which gives 7.1% at the end of 15 years your invested value would be 2250000 Rs and maturity value would be 4068000 so a gain in absolute term is 1818000 rs only.
Now see the effect if you had just continued your investment till 25 yrs you would have invested 3750000 and matury value is 1,03,08,015 gain of 6558015 . This is almost 37 lakhs more buy just investing for 10 more years and 15 lakhs more.
Now lets go further you invest 1.5 lakhs more for 5 more years . The result is alarming on total investment investof rs4500000 you have earned an interest income of Rs 1,09,50,911 making total amount Rs 1,54,50,911.
You need to understand this since a value of Rs 1 to day will always be less than what it was yesterday. This is due to inflation.
When I was young we could get chocolate for 25 paise and samosa was of value 2-3 rs apiece and today we have chocolate for Rs 1 and Samosa for Rs 10 to 12.Keep investing and enjoy life.
My personal inclination is towards stock market since time and time it is proven that in past 100 years it is equity markets which has given best return. But here also you can go wrong.More on equity we shall talk in next blog.
