Home many times you have heard the saying “Life is a Marathon not a sprint”. At choose your attitude, we advocate for the transformative influence of small actions and choices. These accumulate gradually, fostering substantial change with enduring effects on both personal growth and community impact. Many people mistakely expect significant changes to happen swiftly, yet life more closely resembles a marathon than a sprint. This comparison underscores the value of cherishing small moments and highlights the need for ongoing, deliberate efforts and wise decision making to navigate life effectively. conversely, a sprint unflods rapidly, offering minimal oppurtunities to ponder alternative paths are decisions.

I have frequently used the well known analogy with my team, whether discussing product launches, career paths, or life in general. Like many others who use this comparison, my understanding was superficial focusing on the varying lengths of two distances, where a marathon requires substantially more time than a sprint. Running a marathon shifted my prespective on comparing the challenges of starting compant to a race that only lasts a few hours. Apart from the rigorous training, running the race mirrored  the emotional ups and downs i experienced when tackling challenging projects. There were moments of feeling invincible, breezing past others with a smile, with times when i considered withdrawing altogether, encountering unexpected physical limitations.

For your new workout routine to have a meaningful impact, it must become a consistent habit. Start by making minor adjustments to your daily routine, allowing your body to acclimate, and then gradually incorporate more or vary your exercises. Over time, these incremental changes will yield significant results. Consider life as a marathon rather than a sprint, emphasizing the journey towards achieving long term goals. Instead of focusing solely on short term objectives that lack a broader impact, prioritize goals that require sustained effort over time. Break down these ambitious goals into smaller, manageable steps to steadily progress towards your larger aspirations. By maintaining a focus on long term planning, you will align your decision making with future oriented purposes, reducing the urge for immediate gratification in your pursuits.

Maybe it's just the product manager in me, but this is very similar to product launch. You push and grind to get it out there, but when its finally ready, you realize how far you still have to go in the product world, post mortems, sprints, and launch sessions are extermely important and are some of the most insightful meetings had. Taking the time to ask the team what went well, what didn't, and figure out how to get on track towards the overarching goals.

Running a marathon is not a walk in the park there are moments when it feels incredibly tough. Nonetheless, the discipline of training, developing patience, and overcoming difficult stretches has forged unexpected resilience in various facets of my life. Kids are the next best thing when it comes to character traits. The best age is childhood. It exudes enthusiasm, vigour, and interest. The search for a why answer is an ongoing endeavour. For tge majority of parents, childhood is a merciless race. As they become older kids discover that they need to learn how to take it slow once more. Those were the days when we went inside only when the streetlights care on, our feet dirty and caked in dirt. We enjoyed every second to the fullest. Reclaim your childlike enthusiasm and enjoy your marathon. Bring back your affection for the unpredictability to trips and making use of every minute of the day. Would love to show you the route back to your younger self.
