NEW DELHI: In today's era of cybercrime, a weak password can hack your phone in less than a second.

1)  India's weakest password:

• Password management company Nordpass has released its list of the world's weakest passwords for 2021. The first of these is 1.2.3.4.5.6. Second, comes 1.2.3.4.5.6.8.9, and third comes 1.2.3.4.
• When referring to India, the word Password is said to be India's greatest weakness. In India, data says that the number of people who keep the spelling of the word Password as their password is more than 17 lakhs.

2) Easy password to hack:

• In India, the number 12345, 123456, and 123456789 as a password is over 12 lakh, 11 lakh, and over 2 lakh, respectively, according to data. Whereas the number of people who have INDIA 123 as their password is more than 1 lakh 26 thousand.
• Apart from this, QWERTY and ABC 123 are among the weakest passwords in India. All passwords except INDIA 123 can be cracked in less than a second. The average time to crack INDIA 123 password is 17 minutes.

3) Very weak passwords:

• Apart from this, the most used passwords in India include 'XXX, 'I LOVE You, 'krishna', 'Om Sai ram, Bismilla, Waheguru, Sai Baba etc. These too can be hacked in seconds to minutes and hours. This list of weakest passwords for 2021 has been prepared based on a study of 50 countries.
• In the world, there was a time when the house was locked for security, but now it is time to lock many accounts including mobile phones with a password.
• If someone cracks your mobile phone password, none of your bank accounts, including your personal data, are safe. The password you use for your mobile phone, laptop, tablet, or other digital devices should be very strong and not easily hacked.

4) 300 crore passwords stolen:

• In 2016 alone, more than 300 million passwords were stolen worldwide. That means hackers easily steal 8 lakh passwords every day. IT experts believe that a seven-character password can be hacked within a second, a 9 character password can be hacked in 5 days and a 10-character password can be hacked in 4 months.
• If you want your password to be unhackable even for 200 years, you need to make it at least 12 characters long. And so should the combination of characters, which is hard to guess. In this, apart from letters, you should also use special symbols and numbers.

5) A future without passwords:

• However, this is where the problem begins. Difficult passwords are also difficult to remember. But, simple passwords can be easily stolen. That's why companies are now looking toward a password-free future that has already begun.
• Now instead of a password, it uses your eye scan, faces recognition, and finger and thumb prints i.e. fingerprints. If you don't want someone to hack your account, keep changing your password every 3 months.
