Amber Fort in Amer, Rajasthan, India, is a fortified structure. Located 11 kilometers from Jaipur, Amer is a town on a hilltop, covering 4 square kilometers and being the main tourist spot in Jaipur. Amber Fort is famous for its artistic design features. The fort, with its extensive walls and multiple entrances, looks out over Maota Lake, the primary water supply for the Amber Palace..
Amer Palace showcases exquisite Rajput architectural style. Mughal architecture has influenced some of the buildings and works. The beautiful and luxurious palace is constructed using red sandstone and marble, and covers four levels, each including a courtyard. It includes the Diwan-e-Aam, also known as the "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, also known as the "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool environment is created by winds passing over a waterfall inside the palace. Amer Fort is referred to as Amer Palace for this reason.

The palace served as the dwelling place for the Rajput Maharajas and their families. Near the Ganesh gate of the fort stands a temple dedicated to Shila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya Cults, which Raja Man Singh received after defeating the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. Jessore currently falls within the borders of Bangladesh. Raja Man Singh built 12 rooms to accommodate his 12 queens. Every room had a staircase leading to the king's chamber, however the queens were not allowed to ascend. Raja Jai Singh had just one queen, therefore he constructed a chamber equivalent to three former royal chambers.,,

This palace, together with Jaigarh Fort, sits right on top of the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) on the Aravalli ridge. The palace and Jaigarh Fort are seen as one unit, linked by a secret underground passage. This passage was built as a way for the royal family and others in Amer Fort to flee to Jaigarh Fort in case of war. The Superintendent of the Department of Archaeology and Museums has stated that the Amer Palace receives 5,000 tourists daily, totaling 1.4 million visitors in 2007. During the 37th meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2013, UNESCO designated Amer Fort and five other forts in Rajasthan as a World Heritage Site, forming the Rajasthan Hill Forts group.,,

Amer Fort is famous for its artistic design characteristics. The fort, with its expansive walls and multiple gates and cobblestone pathways, sits above Maota Lake, the primary water source for Amer Palace. Amer Palace serves as a wonderful illustration of Rajput architecture.
