By now, most of us might have heard or some of us might have even watched this chilling mystery series based on the sensational Burarai deaths. This documentary has 3 episodes each approximately 45 mins long and has recently been launched on Netflix. 

This documentary covers the investigations and findings related to the seeming suicide by a complete family of 11 members. It portrays the perspective of crime reporters, police, and forensic authorities about the incident. 

Episode 1 of this documentary starts with the neighbors of the Bhatia family smelling a fish as the Bhatia family is showing no movement till late morning. As the neighbors enter the Bhatia's house, they get the shock of their life to found all the eleven members of the family hanging. 10 members were hanging from the ceiling ventilator [jaal] and the eldest woman lying strangulated in the bedroom. This was something uncanny and improbable. This strange incident attracted a lot of media attention and was initially assumed to be murder. As the investigations proceeded the media attempted to gain more details to serve piping hot news shows to their viewers. The police gradually realized that there were no signs of forced entry, any struggle, or even the presence of any twelfth person. 

As the police termed it as mass suicide, this interpretation did not go down well with many people and they accused the police of conspiring theories to hide the murder. 

As the second episode begins, the investigators find the most crucial evidence that put an end to the investigation by explaining what actually transpired. As the answers start pouring in, the goosebumps show up too. It is really hard to not get shivers while trying to understand- why did they do it. The third episode further tries to look back to the incidents that could have triggered the present act. 

It cannot be really called a mystery as we know what happened, yet it's a mystery for we want to know why none of the eleven members objected to such an act. Even the psychological autopsy of the 11 members could not reveal any crucial psychological disorders. In fact, they all were highly social, vocal, and well-educated people progressing in their lives. Their family moments pictures, videos, and relatives indicate a normal family just like any other Indian family. 

Neither the neighbors nor relatives ever had a tinge of any what was going on among the eleven people as they never divulged anything. But the abnormal happening in the house was well-protected for years within the house and by all the generations equally. Psychologists find it strange how people from different generations and personalities all agreed and followed what was told without any objection or divulgence.

I am still getting over with this series but it keeps popping up in my head every now and then. Knowing that it is not a movie but a real-life incident triggers a lot of emotions and fear. It's definitely a good watch and does not over or under portrays anything. I have not given any bloopers so watch it and spent some time on how mysterious and complex humans are and how little we actually know.

In the end, it wasn't termed as a murder or a suicide, but an accident led by shared psychosis or mass hysteria. But was it even an accident or psychosis?
