So today, I present to you my top 5 suspense/thriller novels which I have read and found quite wonderful and unpredictable. Though I am the kind of person who loves to predict and assess all possible scenarios and often get them right as well, yet these books were my best reads and I hope you'll love them. If you have already read any one of them, then even better because you'll understand why we like them.
Genre- Suspense/Mystery/Crime
The story is exactly what you inferred from its title. Yes, a train scheduled for a long journey across Europe with a gloomy atmosphere due to harsh Winter. Then one of the eminent passengers is murdered in running train and the circumstances clearly indicate that culprit is one of the co-passengers. However, our favorite detective Hercule Poirot happened to be on the train and immediately starts with what he does the best, investigation. No spoilers, but no one of them was the murderer.
For those who haven't read it already, it's ending is just mind boggling. Reading this book might be a little difficult only for very few people but the way it ends makes it worth reading. It is amust read for EVERYONE.
Genre- Crime fiction/ Thriller/ Suspense
It is one of the most descriptive suspense thriller novels and even the worst of readers would be able to imagine vividly every event that the author describes. So the storyline goes like this- A guy kills all the family members in a house except one who accidentally hides into the murderer's truck. After this, the real journey begins and you would be hooked to this book until you have read the last page. Some of us might even get goosebumps
There is a movie based on this book as well, which I won't suggest you to watch. Just read it.
Genre- Mystery/Thriller
This novel might sound cliche` but it has reasons for being so famous. The author not only lays down an elaborate mystery to solve but also well-researched facts that make it worth a read. This book will take you on a journey in past and apart from an excellent ending it also leaves the reader with a great deal of historical data.
Though quite lengthy, It is worth giving a read. In fact you can look for few other amazing works by Dan Brown if not this one.
Genre- Suspense/ dark thriller
The only novel whose movie adaption I found pretty good. But reading it will take you on a real rollercoaster of events where you would be so confused that hardly you'll have time to defer reading it. The story is centered around a normal couple, but one day the wife disappears mysteriously and the investigation points to the husband's guilt. But this is exactly what the story is not about.
This book is not much lenghty and you can proabaly finish it in day or two maximum if you once really get in to the plot. An amazing read for sure, go read it and maybe watch it later.
Genre- Horror fantasy, Thriller
The book has everything that the movie lacks. It is a very peculiar kind of horror that can't be compared to any other horror works. The story revolves around 7 young teenagers who struggle to fight with the creepy/ horrific Pennywise clown who makes their hair curl throughout the novel. They finally manage to fight him off as grownups. It has a very unique plot and story and is definitely worth reading if you don't mind many pages. I read it feeling as terrified as the seven kids in the novel.
As movie adaptations of these novels are already available, most of us prefer watching to reading. But I personally did not like the movie adaptation as much because they usually leave out the minute details which in fact are what we readers find indispensable. Reading is like living the book while watching is just watching.
