Natural Remedies For Sore Throat

What causes a sore throat?

Pain or irritation in the throat that occurs with or without swallowing. The most common cause of sore throat is a viral infection like a cold or the flu. Strep throat(streptococcal infection), a less common type of sore throat caused by bacteria, require treatment with antibiotics to prevent complications.

A sore throat can also cause due to overuse of the voice, a burn from hot food and a very dry mouth. 

Sore throat that comes suddenly is caused by acute pharyngitis and that last for a long time is called chronic pharyngitis.

It occurs when a respiratory sinus or mouth infection spread to the throat. Here are some natural remedies for sore throat:-

Due to sore throat individual face problem in swallowing food or liquid. It can be caused by infection or fever and by cold.

  1. Better hydration:- Drink hot water or hot vegetable soup which can help to get rid of mucus and provide relief.
  2. Gargle with salt water:- Gargling with salt water help to loosen the scratchy throat and remove mucus out one need to gargle 2-3 time a day to reduce inflammation.
  3. Honey:- Honey is the best remedies for sore throat due to its natural antibiotics properties that act as a wound healer. Honey act as an effective cough syrup mix two tablespoons of honey with warm water and drink 2-3 times a day.
  4. Garlic:- Garlic has properties that help to relieve sore throat pain. Garlic has allicin that has antibacterial and antiviral properties. Simple chew raw cloves of garlic.
  5. Herbal Tea:- This tea gives you relief from a sore throat.  Ingredients that are used in, tulsi, turmeric, cardamom, water, cinnamon.
  6. Honey, ginger and black pepper:- Prepare a mixture of honey with ginger and pepper and have a tablespoon for better result. 

AVOID

Spicy seasonings, sodas, cold drinks, coffee, alcohol, chilled water and avoid acidic foods, citrus fruits and avoid caffeinated beverages because can dehydrate your throat that irritate you overnight. 

If your sore throat lasts for more than a week then you might need medical advice or a doctor. 

Drink at least 2-3 litre water daily it's a must hydrate yourself and stay safe and stay home.
