Short Story: When Adversity Knocks

Hello Readers! It's been a week since I have started writing on Candlemonk and till now I have shared my knowledge on different topics ,so today we will read a short story with an important message.

Adversity basically means an unpleasant situation or you could say a difficult situation. We all face such situations in our day to day life and overcome it with time, now whether it is good or bad it all depends upon the situation and the way you handle it. Most of them say β€˜yes’ because when bad things happen we get affected mentally, physically and emotionally but this suffering helps us grow and develop ourselves into a better person, it makes us more self confident and fosters an attitude of consciousness and care towards others.  Also there is a negative side to it, you don't always develop into someone better it could have a negative impact on your growth.

Now the interesting part is the story, so let's begin with it.

Renu was tired and frustrated with her life and had no clue what to do. One day she decided to tell her father that she is tired of life and wants to give up. Her father thought of making her understand the value of life and what to do when adversity knocks your door. He asked her to bring a potato an egg and tea leaves. Renu was confused but then decided to do what her father told her to do.

Her father bought three vessels, filled it with water and then placed them on the stove. When the water started boiling, he asked Renu to place the items on each vessel and keep a eye on them. Later after few minutes he asked her daughter to check whether the items are boiled and told her to peel the egg and potato and strain the tea leaves. Renu was left unhinged

Then her father elucidated β€œ Each of the food item was kept under the same situation so see and analyse how each of them have responded differently? Then her father explained her ” The potato became soft ,before it was hard". Similarly the egg became hard, before it was soft and the tea leaves changed  color of the water.

So the life lesson through this short story is whenever there is a difficult situation, it depends upon you ,whether you are a potato an egg or tea leaves.

Let me know in the comment section below, how do you react to different situations and would be great if you share your experiences.
