Good evening people !! I hope you all good . Today i got notified by my phone calendar and today is “ World Ozone Day ” . I wondered . I have not heard that before and i have no idea that this day exist . So i researched about this day and i am gonna share it with you guys . If you guys too don't know about this day , then probably this blog will brief you . Let's move on  into it .

World Ozone Day :

This day is celebrated on 16 September every year on the account of spreading awareness about the ozone and its depletion of the layer to the general public and proper possible ways to get it under control ,avoiding the depletion .  Along with this day there is an important event associated named as “Montreal Protocol” which was started in 1987 . Montreal Protocol is a union of 24 member nations of the UN as they all signed together a treaty and pledged to save the ozone layer from depletion and to limit the use of Chloro-fluro-carbons .

What is Ozone layer :

The ozone layer contains higher concentrations  of ozone gas which absorbs the ultraviolet radiation  which comes towards the earth  causing harms to the humans ,from the sun . These rays can cause various skin diseases . The ozone layer is ticker than any other poles from the equator .  It is also called as the ozone shield . Chemicals like chlorine and bromine atoms are released into the environment through our actions . These chemicals destroy the ozone molecules .  

History :

The united nations general assembly announced September 16 for celebrating the preservation of ozone layer on December 19,1994 .the purpose of Montreal protocol is to protect the ozone layer by taking steps to reduce the substance which are responsible for ozone layer depletion . 

Theme of this year :

“Montreal Protocol - Keeping us , Our food and Vaccines” is the theme of this year's world ozone day . The theme relies on to highlight that the Montreal protocol do much many things , like slowing climate change and helps to boost up efficiency of reducing the substances which causes ozone depletion .

Significance :

With this execution of this protocol , researchers have found that the earth has started healing at a rate of 1to 3 percentage every 10 years since 2000. 

Above all , we humans have to make our little contribution in securing our ozone layer or spreading awareness on preserving it .
