Happy day people !! Welcome back to my blogs . Today i sort of learned about how to write a “ News report ” in my English class . So i thought of i could share it with you guys , so that it will be useful and you guys can get an idea of what is actually a news report . So let's get into it .

What is a News Report ?

News report is some thing we see everyday like through news papers or news . It conveys information and details about an incident or an event that happened , to the publics.  News reporting is the main function of journalistic profession . 

Types of news report :

• Crime or thefts
• Tragic events
• State and national news
• International news
• Cultural events on a grand scale
• Business and finance
• Marketing 
• Sports 
• Political news 
• Inventions 

The format of a report :

1.Headline :

Here we have to write the exact story line of the content as a headline . It must be in a single line which will provide the reader an overlook of that report . Headline must be in the way which will attracts the readers towards it .

2.Byline :

We have to mention the name of the reporter who writes it . Along with it add the date with year .

3.Placeline :

It is the name of the place where the news is reported from .

eg :  Adayar - Chennai

4. Lead :

It is the first paragraph of the news report where it answers the five W's and 1 H

• What  - what is the actual incident
• Where - which place or locality did it take place
• Who- the main subject [ the name of the main victim]
• Why- the reason behind the incident
• When-the day or time when it happen
• How-description of the how the event unfolded

 5.Body :

In the 2nd paragraph you should elaborate the contents from the 1st para briefly .  The body of the news report is done by based on a inverted pyramid .

In the 3rd paragraph you must add on the additional details of the story , how it is answered , logic  or you can add a quote of what the witness or people said or seen in the area of the incident .

Note : News report must be in past tense

Don'ts of news reporting :

1. Do not cook up your own story to draw attention .
2. Don't give any fake news and evidences.
3. Don't make the quote too long [max 1-2 lines].
4. Don't over elaborate in the name of explaining , it will bore the readers. .
