BLACK FUNGUS RE-EMERGING:

The 'Black Fungus' (Mucor Mycosis), which claimed the lives of many patients, is re-emerging. Medical experts at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi have warned that this could pose a threat to covid patients with weakened immune systems. In the last two days alone, 6 cases of mucosal mycosis have been reported to the hospital. The number of people admitted to other hospitals in the country's capital with the infection has risen sharply. Black fungus infections usually occur in people who have undergone organ transplant surgery, in patients treated with ICU, and in those who are immunocompromised. However, despite recovering from the corona, people who also suffer from chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, kidney problems can get affected by Black Fungus.

Doctors recall that they too have been exposed to the virus since last year. Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the ENT department at Sir Gangaram Hospital, said that in addition to these diseases, the provision of potent steroids to covid patients is also a major cause of 'black fungus' infection in them. He said that mucosal mycosis fungus spores (fungal spores) enter the body through or through burnt and injured areas and have an effect on the lungs. Do not take antifungal therapy as soon as these symptoms are detected or you may need to have your jaw and nose removed. Black fungus cases have increased in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi in the last three weeks. Medical experts say one out of every five victims suffers from vision loss.

The Center for Medical Research (ICMR) of India has issued a guideline to prevent the development of mucous mycosis (black fungus). Officials warned that the issue could turn fatal if not addressed immediately. According to ICMR, the problem is most prevalent among those who use antiviral drugs. "Mucormycosis. If not treated, it is life-threatening. People who are immune-compromised can inhale this fungus in the air and their sinuses and lungs will be affected. Its victim's nose and eyes become red around the eyes. There will be pain because of this.

Symptoms include fever, headache, cough, shortness of breath, bloody vomiting, and mood swings, "said ICMR experts. Caution should be exercised in case of problems such as nausea, toothache, blackening of the nose beam, blurred vision, blood clots, chest pain, shortness of breath, uncontrolled diabetes, steroid use, prolonged stay in the ICU, and cancer. It is mentioned that the problem comes more and more shortly.
