By one ball, Sri Lanka wins.
The last over by Arshdeep, in which he tries to stop at 7, is excellent. Bhuvneshwar's wide yorkers in the 19th left the kid with too much work to do, despite his excellent performance. Despite his multiple attempts, Sri Lanka was able to aid them cross the finish line because of their expertise.
What a turnaround for them after the humiliation in the first game against Afghanistan. After winning both of their opening games in the Super Four, they currently have a spot in the Asia Cup final. Shanaka and Rajapaksa built a fantastic team for Sri Lanka after they lost 4 for 13.
Sri Lanka had 21 of the 12 necessary points to win.
Rohit had to decide because there was only one of each Hardik, Arshdeep, and Bhuvneshwar left. When Hardik received the 18th, he vigorously mixed it to ignite the excess. Twelve runs off the over were achieved by Shanaka, who skillfully manipulated an outside shot past Pant for a four and subsequently dove underneath a short ball to knock off a six over fine-leg.
As a result of Rajapaksa's sixes off Chahal and Ashwin, respectively, Sri Lanka is once again in the attacking range. There are two off Arshdeep, one each off Bhuvneshwar and Pandya, and two for India.
Today, Sri Lanka is down four.
They are at 4 for 13 after their first stand for 97 runs. Ashwin dismissed the effective Gunathilaka after catching him at long-off. Then, Chahal taps Mendis directly in front of the stumps with his slider. The half-centurion has left, and India is now progressively joining the battle. Sri Lanka still has Rajapaksa and Shanaka to see things through.
Chahal's final performance was 3 for 34.
Chahal is two for two:
Can India overcome their opening 97-run stand? The opening is Nissanka's attempted reverse sweep. When an unbalanced Asalanka top-edged a slog sweep, India suddenly found themselves still in the game.
38 from the final 4 overs. 29 of those were the result of two overs. Madushanka's final statistics were astounding: 3 for 24, 4 runs conceded starting from the 19th over, and 2 wickets taken (Pant and Hooda). Karunaratne was just as exceptional. He concluded with 2 for 27 despite Ashwin nailing him for 8 from the following two deliveries. He should have gotten three as well, but Ashwin ran two, and Hasaranga mishandled the final ball, dropping a dolly. Could it become significant in the end?
