We have all got CCTV around us; be it the malls, workplaces, shops, public transport, and even our home to monitor possible suspicious activity by anyone and use that as evidence to identify the same and the person involved. In a way, it is good and sometimes of no use.
People act accordingly to avoid being captured if they are involved in some shady activities, or even when checking their phones unaware of the camera right above them.
If I happen to use my phone in a mode of public transport or at a shop, I make sure I am away from the camera; not because I am checking something else, but you know sometimes the staff monitoring the CCTV may have a sneak peek into it. You don't want that, do you?
Even without all these CCTV cameras, we are always under surveillance. We are certainly being watched sometimes in a good way and not in a good way. That is the surveillance, we need to be aware of, something that is sadly not in our control. We will never know where those cameras are as the position keeps changing even if it is on the same storage device.
Yes, I am talking about humanminds. Be it strangers and people we know, the only difference between them and the CCTV is that the former has no fixed place and we wouldn't always know where they are. They (the humans) happen to be at a particular spot and notice a particular activity or a person, they know or not. Sometimes the same humans can film it to show others (properly the people in their circle) as possible evidence.
For example, someone is at the balcony on an evening after work and sees their colleague on a bike with a guy stuck in the traffic, perhaps and that someone may click a picture and share it in the group. That might seem harmless because the colleague is known to the others and even the guy could be known as well.
Someone may even click a picture to show others that they have seen their old classmate whom they used to pick on at school and unbeknownst to that classmate, he or she would be a discussion in that group at least for a good amount of time (or not).
We can't predict when we are being watched or who is watching us. We are walking in the park with someone but we aren't aware that an uncle or an aunty from our neighbourhood saw us by chance. and there is no possible harm I would say. Or when we are doing something peculiar, we are spotted by two people at the same time but are from different positions; both unaware of each other's presence.
Surveillance is not only by people we know but even by strangers. So we have to be aware when in a public place because someone or the other would be watching us and not because they wanted to but because they happen to. A man might be checking on a woman in a public place but what he needs to be aware of is that even if the woman isn't seeing, someone else is.
As long as your intentions are right, don't worry about being under surveillance but be aware of it even if you don't like it.
