Pathu Thala’ movie review: Simbu sizzles, but this gangster drama lacks any real punch

Pathu Thala,’ even when it tries a lot to add novelty to its Kannada original β€˜Mufti,’ has too many issues that do no justice to Silambarasan TR and Gautham Karthik who have given it their all

AGR (Silamparasan) aka AG Ravana runs a sand robbery empire in Kanyakumari. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (Sandosh Pratap) suddenly disappears and AGR's chosen person (Obli N. Krishna) becomes the next Chief Minister. Suspecting that it was AGR who kidnapped the mysterious Chief Minister, the police Shakti (Gautam Karthik) from the department, who infiltrates the group as a slave.

His college sweetheart and Kanyakumari tehsildar Leela Thompson (Priya Bhavani Shankar) bravely opposes the sand mining of AGR. Deputy Chief Minister Nanjilar (Gautham Vasudev Menon), who gives the chief a sweep, tries to undermine AGR's influence by instigating an anti-sand mining campaign for his own selfish interests What happened to the mysterious principal? Who is AGR? Did the objectives of the power he enters the fort be fulfilled? The rest of the story answers that.

While setting the stage for a quality political gangster film, it fails to fully satisfy as it lacks innovation and interesting sequences. In the first half, full of political maneuvers and struggles against the influential sand-piracy mafia, there are only a few scenes to enjoy.

muαΉ‰αΉ‰utāraαΉ‡am.

In the first half full of stunts, only a few scenes are enjoyable. AGR's good intentions and his influence are described in the second half. The second half, full of mass, sentimental scenes, is comparatively less than the mysterious first half. It is a bad example for the society to show AGR, which is good for the people, as a lorry of sand in violation of theThe question of how he gained enough influence to decide who will be the next chief minister remains unanswered.

Silambarasan DR, who made his debut in the interval and carried the second half, has portrayed the personality of an influential leader as a good man with a bad face. Both Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar have given impeccable performances. Gautham Menon's character is menacing. Not designed. Manushyaputra attracts attention even though he appears in some scenes as a social activist. RS Ramakrishna's verses like 'He who struggles to win is faster than the one who conquers' attract attention.

The songs 'Osaratum Bathu Thala' and 'Akkaraiyila' in AR Rahman's music are enjoyable. Strengthen the character of AGRThe background music adds great strength to the mass scenes to establish the character strongly. Farooq J Pasha's cinematography captures the grandeur of Kanyakumari in top-angle shots. Although it is a conventional story, if the screenplay had more menaket, it would have hit the 'Pathu Thala' band.
