As the company's youngest worker, founder Kazuhiko "Smokey" Nagata started out as a mechanic for Toyota. At Trust/GReddy, he later worked as a tuner and fabricator. In 1978, he started using the Trust shop for personal projects, and as a nickname for his covert work at the Trust facility, "Top Secret" was born. Because Nagata was a highly skilled worker and a valued asset to the company, his employers permitted this to continue.
Since 1994, Nagata and the Top Secret team have taken part in several speed challenges and trials, including 1000m, top speed challenges, 0–400 km/h (0–249 mph), and 0–300 km/h (0–186 mph). Frequently, they have used a Toyota Supra A80. Known for his numerous illegal speed runs on public roads, Nagata is best known for his 341 km/h (212 mph) run on the German Autobahn,358 km/h (222 mph) on the Italian Nardò with a Top Secret V12 Supra, and 317 km/h (197 mph) on public highways in the United Kingdom.[6] Reshared videos of his illegal high-speed drives on various social media platforms have made him well-known outside of the JDM car community. Though it wasn't his most well-known driving moment, Top Secret founder Kazuhiko "Smoky" Nagata achieved a 222 mph run at Italy's Nardo test track in 2008 after it was modified to V12 power.
With a little assistance from a nitrous injection, this twin-turbo V12 produced 930 horsepower during its most recent test. A six-speed manual gearbox is used to transfer all of that power to the rear wheels.
