Minimum Expectations; Door To A Happy Life

You have them ! .. they are like cigarettes — addictive and will kill you slowly.

We live in a world where humans are emotionally connected to each other on various grounds. The connections have become wider and wider as the society is technologically advancing in social media and cloud connectivity. We all are very familiar to what we call as a “Give and Take" rule. People try to apply this in every aspect of their lives. Unfortunately, there are some sections where you have to let go of the “Take” part. I will never say it will be easy, but it comes under an essential asset to live a happy and carefree life.

Life is too valuable to hand over its charge to someone else’s actions. Its not only what you expect from others, even ones harsh expectations from oneself may leave a person feeling low about themselves. People setting unachievable and impractical tasks comes under this very category. Such expectations will slowly kill a person's motivation and push their subconscious mind to believe in them lesser and lesser as the practice continues.

I say.. replace your expectations with chances, ignorance and just live life as it comes your way. Ignorance is too underrated though it is a bliss. Now don’t misunderstand me, when i said ignorance is a bliss. I meant to focus on ignoring the things that are not in your control. How people act towards you, your late future, people returning back a favor to you, people believing in you, peoples' views about you  — nothing under your control. If I start listing more, there could be numerous examples, but I believe you were able to relate to the context.

When it comes to the implementation of this very idea following practices can be taken into account:

  1. Meditate at least once a day. It can be as small a session as just five minutes.
  2. Make a gratitude journal. List out the things, relationships and emotions that you are happy about to have in your life. List few things each and every day.
  3. Praise yourself often. People don't take it seriously, but a small positive talk with oneself daily can prove to work wonders with your perception about various life aspects and thus can improve your work efficiency. Positive talks with oneself, will keep you happy and will help boost your self confidence.

Take care !
