Peptic ulcer is a common problem that most of us are being ignorant about but it could be fatal if we don't take proper care of it. let's see some common food guidelines that are to be maintained in our daily diets so that we can cure/ prevent it permanently.
what is peptic ulcer?
It is an erosion of the mucosal lining of those portions of alimentary canal that come in contact with gastric juice. the disintegration of tissues happen and if it gets worse the layer could be totally eroded off. These symptoms can be seen in all types of ulcers regardless of the location.
some of the common guidelines:
- rather than having 3 large meals it is good to have 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day
- stick to low fat cooking methods such as steaming, grilling, braising, poaching instead frying certain foods
- caffeine consumption must be reduced as it increases stomach acid
- low fat meats like fish chicken can be included in the diet
- acidic foods like tomato, citrus can sometimes help in healing wounds but avoid them if it's duodenal peptic ulcer.
- fried and spicy foods must be reduced in the diet as it may sometimes cause heart burns in the condition
- probiotics like curd yoghurt kombucha are good for the treatment of peptic ulcer.
- healthy fats like olive oil , avocados and nuts can be incorporated in the diet
- milk the form of custard, milkshake, sago payasam are well tolerated
- sea weeds are good for this condition
- cooked foods are better tolerated than raw foods
- soluble fibre like guava, banana, apple, papaya pears are preferred.
- Easily digestible foods like pumpkin, spinach, sprouts, banana must be given
- meat extractive processed foods,artificial readymade foods must not be included in the diet
- avoid outside foods and hotel foods as it may contain additives which can be harmful.
- Vitamin A and vitamin C rich foods can be included since they help in regeneration of gastic tissues
so these are some of the common guidelines and intake of the food at right time is very necessary since the acid released may erode the layers of stomach if food is not given at the proper time. avoid eating at late night. sleep after two- three hours of having dinner.
