Hi friends this is my first blog. I hope all is well in this pandemic, but this lockdown taught us many things.  Here to share something interesting which I have learned and experienced. This post is for how to approach a “Word"

The twain that lore of numbers and of letters give                                            Are eyes, the wise declare, to all on earth that live.

Meaning:  Letters and numbers are the two eyes of man.  Likewise, the words we are using is more important in language.  One must know how to use a word properly. But in a sentence, using an apt word in an apt  place shows the persons level of knowledge.  Let us see how to analyze a word and how to remember it in 12 steps with examples.

(1) Spelling:  Initially one must should know the spelling of a word.  Without spelling, you can't pronounce a word properly.  Whenever see a new word just remember the spelling.  Knowing the spelling of a word, it is easy to pronounce ,  identify silent letter, homophone difference and syllabify.  So, don't hesitate to learn spelling. eg: Authority_ A-U-T-H-O-R-I-T-Y

(2)Syllable:  After spelling, knowing  syllabification is must. This knowledge gives proper phonetic sounds. It improves communication skill. eg: Authority_ Au/thor/i/ty

(3)Pronunciation:  It teach, how to pronounce a word as a native speaker. A persons pronunciation should be very expressive and impressive.

(4)Meaning:  Every word has its own meaning.  When crossing a new  word, immediately everyone searching the meaning.  Without knowing meaning, the word easily forgotten.  Now-a-days, most of them tired of flipping the dictionaries and get bored.  Not knowing the meaning,  can't use the word in a proper manner and communicate with others.  By lookup, know the root word and derivative words of the word. It gains understanding and acquire knowledge.       eg: Authority:  The power and right to give orders and make others obey.

(5)Noun/Verb:  In any language, there are more than 90% words are noun. One can easily find a word  whether it is noun or verb.  eg: Authority: Noun

(6)Synonym:  First of all,  know the difference between the meaning and synonym.  Meaning is the symbolic value of a word, while synonym is a word that is the same as or very similar to another word.  eg: Authority: Official, power, jurisdiction, mastery, administration, dominion, charge, command.   

(7)Antonym:  The practical importance of antonyms relies on  understanding in use of everyday life and communicational situations.  Even though, the linguistic explanations is more important and fundamental. It helps for other disciplines to understand the better situations and circumstances when antonyms are used.  eg:  Authority:  Breach, break, disadvantage, lack, powerlessness, prohibition, subordination.

(8)Root word:  Root words carry actual meaning of the word.  It is quiet interesting to find the root word and its origin. eg: Authority: Root word_ Author.

(9)Derivation:  Root word, gives pace for to derive many words and it is a best way to learn lot of words from a single word.  eg: Authority: Author, Authoritarian, Authoritative, Authorities, Authorization, Authorize, Authorized Version, Authorship.

(10)Prefix/Suffix:  A prefix is a word part added to the beginning of a word that changes the word's meaning.  A suffix is a word part added to the end of a word that changes the word's meaning,  Learning the meanings of prefix and suffix will help to expand your vocabulary.  which will help to improve writing skills.  eg: Authority:  Prefix_ Anti-authority.  Suffix_ Author-ity 

(11)Sentence formation:  After completing these steps just try to form  a sentence.  A sentence is collection of words and meaningful.  However, with the rules of grammar in mind, that a sentence is a group of words that has a subject, verb, and an object.  eg: Authority:  1.The parents were the authority in the house. 2.  I am the manager, I have the authority to change the policy at my job.

These are the few steps which help to improve vocabulary and communication skills of a person.  

So, learn that you may full and faultless learning gain,                                      Then in obedience meet to lessons learnt remain.
