Hey younger self, 

So, this is the continuation of the previous blog wherein some of the comments that seemed compliments were discussed. The rest of them are-

• You are pretty for a fat girl- Firstly; nobody has the right to call you fat in any way possible. This might seem like a compliment but is not. This is body shaming but just in a little tweaked way and also a bit sugar-coated to make you feel good but don’t let it fool you.
• You are not like other girls- Comparison in any form is wrong. You are a different person and one should respect your individuality instead of commenting on such things. You have your own identity and that should be taken care of. So, even if someone is saying this in a good way, then also the person is comparing you with someone, hence discarding your identity in your face. Ergo, never take it as a compliment because it is not.
• You are fun when you are drunk- Alcohol can bring another side of you out or can enhance your existing traits but it doesn’t necessarily change you. So, whenever someone says this to you, this probably means that you are only fun when you are drunk and otherwise you might be boring to them. So, do tell them where they are wrong and do correct them.
• Wow, you should wear makeup more often- Makeup is something that is used or done just because somebody likes to do it, don’t ever do it to look beautiful or fair because everyone is unique and pretty in their natural skin. People doing makeup must understand that it is not to beautify them. Some people do it to look different from your daily look like we at times change our hairstyle too. Likewise, makeup has a different definition for different people. But when people attach makeup with beauty and all of those things, there they go wrong. Never do makeup is hide your marks or scars because just like anything else they are also a part of you. And also even if you start wearing makeup daily then also there will be a day when you won’t look pretty to these people. Don’t ever accept it as a compliment but a comment that you look better in makeup. So tell such people some basic things and do teach them a lesson.
