India is called a developing economy and yet it is one of the fastest growing economies when compared with developed countries that have slowed down and are in the middle of a recession.

The reason for this is the demographic dividend, India has the power of youth which is contributing to the workforce and keeping economic activity running.

The demographic dividend is important because in most countries, the birth rates have declined and they do not have sufficient youth to replace the current generation, whereas in India we have millions of young people who are skilled, educated and entering the workplace.

The youth are essential to take India to a better future, here are some reasons why we must recognise the power of youth in the country:

  1. Innovation: Throughout history, there are countless examples of innovation that are made by the youth, this is true in every field of life, the youth are curious, open to new ideas and want to try something new.

Some of the best examples of this are online sites that we use with the he founders of Flipkart, zepto, Paytm and byjus started at an early age and became successful in a challenging environment.

2. Skill development: the reason why the youth are successful is because they have the necessary skills to work in the field of information technology, we find Indian youth not just in India but also in major multi national companies in America and Europe working in position of power.

The youth can communicate in English and have adapted to the changing business environment, best example is the presence of major information technology companies in India.

3. Enthusiasm: the youth are full of energy and are knowledgeable about the outside world, they may not have the experience but are willing to make mistakes and are motivated to achieve results.

Some of the best examples of this can be found in sports, there are many talented youth who have struggled against all odds to compete and win, despite failure and lack of support.

4. Independence: today's youth are goal oriented, they want to achieve financial independence, be their own boss and have control over their own lives.

They are aware of what they want to do with their money, there are many alternatives available to investing their money and leading a better life.

5. Problem solving: the youth are impatient and believe in making things happen, they look for solutions to problems and not keep postponing and avoiding them.

There are many examples such as online learning during the pandemic and work from home, which helped people to go about their daily lives despite restrictions on movement.

6. Confidence: we need to believe in our abilities and the youth of today have the confidence and a desire to succeed, they know how the world works and are quick learners.

There are many examples of young people who have challenged the old way of doing things, they have learnt from different cultures and have used this knowledge to improve our daily lives.

In the end, we need to highlight the achievements of the youth, so that they inspire everyone to work together and contribute to making India a country that is respected by all.
