Root Cause Of Indian Students Stuck In Ukraine

Over the few days, the entire world is looking at the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On a similar note, the cosmos is watching the condition of Indian students on the land of Ukraine.

However, we'll talk about a different aspect here, preferably not the same narrative let's get to the root cause. The question here is, Why do these students have to travel so long from their motherland?

What was the reason? Was it cheaper education? Was it an employment opportunity? If not then what else?

“According to the report, the number of Indian students opting for higher education abroad grew from 440,000 in 2016 to 770,000 in 2019 and is set to grow further to roughly 1.8 million by 2024”, says Business Standard.

The movement of highly skilled and educated people to a country where they can work in better conditions and earn more money is called Brain Drain.

“Among the Asian countries, India continued its trend of being the top country of birth for immigrant scientists and engineers, with 9,50,000 out of Asia’s total 2.96 million. India’s 2013 figure represented an 85% increase from 2003”, says Hindustan Times.

Isn’t it amazing that a country with 140 crore suffers due to better employment resources? Think about investments a country has done over creating a fruitful person, will be drained if a person migrates to another country to grab an opportunity.

What is the solution then? See, this is completely my opinion probably I’ll never match with you. However, I felt the right time to share it. India is lacking in terms of employment, that’s why people are migrating throughout the world to grab it. We as youth must focus on creating employment opportunities rather than grabbing them. For the last few decades, “As of 09th February 2022, India is home to 88 unicorns with a total valuation of $ 295.99 Bn. The year 2021, 2020, and 2019 saw the birth of the maximum number of Indian unicorns with 44, 10, and 9 unicorns coming each year, respectively” says invest. India has now become a hub of start-ups which will ultimately solve the dependency on government jobs and pre-existing brands.

Additionally, the government must ensure the quality of education in both public as well as private institutions. They must aim to deviate us from underemployment, and create favorable opportunities for us to initiate start-ups. Eventually, it will land up erecting various job opportunities for us and people won't have to migrate for jobs and education.

It is similar to planting a tree for fruits in the future. Look, our country is not suffering due to unemployment but underemployment.
