The Taj Mahal “an international symbol of love ”is an ivory white marble mausoleum. It is situated on the southern bank of the yamuna river in Agra.So here are some intriguing facts about Taj Mahal. 

1.Bill Clinton the former prime minister of America was in awe when he first saw Taj Mahal.He said that there are only two types of people in the world,one who have seen the Taj Mahal and the other who haven't. 

2.It is said that Taj Mahal was designed by a team of approximately thirty seven extremely talented architects from all around the world. 

3.The colour of Taj Mahal seemingly changes three times in a day basically due to positioning of sun and moon at different angles. In morning Taj Mahal appears to be pink, in afternoon it appears to be yellow and blue at night. 

4.The marbles and precious stone requires to build Taj Mahal was imported from all over the World. Twenty eight different kind of rare and precious stones were imported for example :the marble used to build Taj Mahal was brought from Makrana in Rajasthan, jade and Crystal were imported from China, lapiz lazuli from Afghanistan, Turquoise from Tibet, jasper from Punjab, sapphire from Sri Lanka, carnelian from Arab to name a few. These materials were transported with the help of around one thousand force of elephants. 

5.Abled craftsmen from Uzbekistan, Bukhara  and Baluchistan were hired to prune the various gems. In order to engrave texts in calligraphy an Iranian man named Abdul Haq was invited. Later his name was changed to Amanat khan by Shah jahan in honour of his art. 

6.The construction of the Taj Mahal was started in 1631 and was finally completed after twenty two years  in 1653 with the help of twenty two thousand workers. 

7.The Britishers during his rule tried to destroy it's beauty by plucking the studded precious  gems from it's wall. 

8.The Taj Mahal is 73metre tall whereas the tallest minaret of India Qutub Minar is 72.5 metre high. 

9.An Indian author Purushottam Nagesh Oak wrote a book in 1989 titled Taj Mahal :the true story.In that book he claimed that before becoming a tomb Taj Mahal was a temple of lord Shiva (Tejo Mahalaya). In order to prove his stand he registered a PIL in court in 2000 to excavate places around Taj Mahal but the plea was rejected by Supreme Court .
