Patriarchy Or Matrilineal Which Is Better???

Patriarchy is a social system in which a male elder has absolute authority over the family and decisions related to it  and it came into existence approximately ten-twelve thousand years ago .Patriarchy also favours patrillineality, and it goes without saying that a patriarchal system is also patrillineal, a social system in which the property and the title of the family are inherited by the male lineage from a male leader.

We are already witnessing the negative impact of patriarchy on our society. We know how patriarchy has resulted in gender parity and gender inequality. How patriarchy has made some parents partial towards one particular gender. According to Gerda Lerner Aristotle believed that women had colder blood than man and this restricted women to evolve into men. According to him male as a gender was perfect and superior. Lata jagtiani's study points at the glorification of “mother ”,she says “glorification of mother has actually been to the disadvantage of the women herself, one's sexuality is one's own, but the patriarchal view is that women's sexuality is man's property. ”

But have you wondered how a role reversal of this would impact our society. Fortunately we do have very few examples to get a clear picture of this role reversal. In India matriarchy is found in certain part of Assam and Kerala in certain tribes. The three tribes of meghalaya commonly known as Khasis ,jayantas and garos practice Matrilineal system a system completely opposite of patriarchy, instead of bride the groom adjusts in his wife's house and in this society family existence is traced through mother's lineage and the youngest daughter of the family inherits the family's wealth. Unlike patriarchy, matriarchy and Matrilineal system is practiced by only certain tribes around the world like some African tribes  Indonesian and Indian tribes. Minangs are one of the world's largest matrillineal societies.

According to me both systems are at fault ,Whether it is patriarchy or Matrilineal system always the other gender suffers. Vesting too much power in any of the gender reinforces gender imbalance. They don't have a sense of belonging in either parent's home or in their in-laws. Why can't there be equal share of power??Even if this “equal power ” doesn't has any particular name, why people can't live mutually and be sensitive towards each other. Matrillineality as a system  is slowly fading but patriarchy is here to stay, even some  men in Matrilineal system is demanding to replace it with patriarchy.
