How The World's Largest Vaccine Manufacturer Is Now Facing The Shortage Of Covid-19 Vaccines

India has faced a devastation with the massive second wave of covid-19 because of which the country has suffered great loss of lives. Despite of starting the world's largest vaccination drive in January, till now only 3.3% of our population is fully vaccinated according to the government reports.

How did this happen?

The whole blame for this situation I think should be upon our govt. and also on the people on some levels because when the first wave started shrinking, at that time what our govt should have done is focusing on the healthcare system but instead they focused on elections, they were doing rallies with thousands of people even after knowing that in many countries mutated coronavirus have been detected, and that covid-19 pandemic is still not over. They ignored as if everything is normal and we have nothing to worry about and that's where everything went wrong. Thousands of people gathered in rallies, governments started giving relaxations and people not wearing their masks all this lead to the second and the most deadliest wave of covid-19 which no other country in world experienced and India became the worst affected country.

In the first wave where we were helping out other countries with masks, PPE kits and medical equipments, in second wave situation got so worse that we have to ask for help from the world. Our healthcare system collapsed and what making it worse is shortage of vaccines in the country.

It's been six months and we have managed to vaccinate only 3% of our population and we say that this is world's largest vaccination drive, how?

I'll tell you why because we have exported vaccines to 71 countries which is a very good gesture but did the govt before exporting even thought that this might affect our own vaccination drive, no not at all. Even India's representative at the UN K Nagraj Naidu has told UN General Assembly which I quote “ We have supplied more vaccines globally than having vaccinated our own people."  Is this something to be proud of?

Helping other nations is really a humanitarian work but it should not be done at the cost of lives of our own people.

And now we are hearing of an upcoming 3rd wave of covid-19. There are many more vaccines being produced in India and many foreign vaccines coming up which is a good sign and I hope central and state govts work with coalition and speeds up the vaccination drive so that we can at least reach herd immunity because now getting vaccinated is the only solution to defeat covid-19 and I believe we can.

So guys register yourself, get vaccinated and make your contribution in this drive and be a responsible citizen.

Thank you
