Short Review On Citadel Series

Finished binge watching the first two episodes of Citadel last night and enjoyed every bit of it . The story telling could have been a little better as it does seem like we are jumping from one scene to other one city to another introducing characters and new plots without properly explaining their motivations. Priyanka awesome as usual, she is the reason I was eagerly waiting for the series and she did not disappoint. Great to see Richard Madden outside GOT. Hopefully future episodes would go more into the whys of the plot !

Being from a law enforcement family as wel, I'd hoped the series makers would bring a heightened nuanced intelligence more than flashy cinematic action sequences. ๐Ÿ’” Sadly, the first episodes are  dominated by more  doze - worthy, tiring visual "eye candy" than substance. While Tucci reliably brings a nuanced sex appeal for those in my Over Fifty age group, his character is a little too obviously a less rumpled, more toned version of James Bond's sidekick, "Q". Chopra - Jonas frankly has her athletic action sequences insipidly muted with the dark lighting, leaving viewers STARVING for the signs of triple digit IQ points presumably both the character and actress have. ๐ŸšˆWith the opening train sets looking like they were made of recycled materials from a Delta Airline hub, I honestly ALMOST turned it off, 10 minutes in.๐Ÿ˜Alas, Tucci draws me, & I rather trust Chopra - Jonas, so I'll keep watching; hopefully, to see more entertainment and less desperation for a paycheck by the so far wasted cast. With the Russo Brothers attached to this project, The Citidel did exactly what I expected. It grabbed me from go with a beautiful action sequence and kept the pace up. If it's not broke don't fix it; to say the project feeds off certain spy thriller tropes isn't a bad thing for me. There's a reason these formulas exist in the first place. They usually play well, as long as the cast is good, the director knows what he or she is doing and the right budget is in place. That's a yes on all three fronts based on the first couple episodes.  That being said, I have to watch a few more episodes to say the show is "perfect" so, four of five stars seems appropriate here.A globe-trotting, twist-heavy, yawn-inducing Prime Video series that fails its mission to entertain even with lowered expectations. Despite the fortune splurged on it, Citadel still manages to feel small and the CGI looks cheap.
