Rusha and Rubel have been friends since childhood. Rusha is mature,thoughtful girl who aims at having a earning of her own. Rubel is a handsome young guy who is very much passionate about his playing piano and wants to build a career as a professional piano player. The one thing that distinguished Rubel is his blue eyes. Many girls used to fall for this particular trait of Rubel. But Rubel has one heart that has been religiously given to none other than Rusha. Yes,their friendship gets a new turning of mutual courtship when they both are in College.
During this final year of college, Rush is frantically looking for a job that may give a secure support to her family. Her father is going to retire soon. And he is the sole bread earner of the family. As Rubel's family is quite well off ,his father having the wholesale medicine business and his mother being the teacher of a school,Rubel often approaches Rush to accept his financial help without any hesitation. But Rusha is a girl who is very aware of self respect. She never accept such help saying that she is able to manage on her own. Every day, she wake up early in the morning to grab the newspaper and circles the job vacancy posts. One day, she comes across a vacancy against a teacher of a renowned English medium school. She writes down her CV and mails that to the school website. After few days,she gets a call for an interview on a particular date. A spark can be seen in her eyes. She immediately calls to Rubel to give him the news of her first interview that is going to be happened soon. Quite contrary,to her expectation, Rubel has been quite cold in his response.
“ Why do you need to go for such interview? I have told you many times..if you need any financial help,just ask me,even you can call my father. Our families are quite aware of our relationship and they agreed. Then why do you bother to do any job! My father is a successful businessman. He has the capability to feed atleast ten families like you. So,don't bother to disturb you by going to such interview. “
Rusha has been shocked at this response, “listen Rubel, I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. You people will never understand the values of a middle class family. I don't believe in extravaganza,I believe in necessities. And listen, I may not be able to feed other families abundantly, but I don't want any pity from you. I will go for my interview certainly. Now,I am not in mood of saying anything more. Goodbye.”
Rusha has been very confident and hopeful about this interview. Her merit does not betray her anywhere. So,there is a narrow chance of her slip. However, the interview has gone quite well as expected. And the school authority has been very impressed with the personality and wisdom of Rusha. The demo class, done by Rusha has been excellent. Basically, Rusha's charm lies in her simplicity and her humble attitude. The school authority says that they will let her know about the result within three days. Rusha keeps checking her mails.
On the other hand, Rubel’s family does not want to delay more regarding the marriage of Rubel and Rusha. The two families agreed to go for a mutual sitting for fixing the date of the marriage. Rusha was not quite eager as she always wanted to be established before getting married. But Rubel insists her frequently for marriage and she nods. After all, it's their long cherished desire to be together for lifetime. On the day of fixing their marriage date,Rusha's joy gets doubled when she finally finds the mail from the school authority confirming her job of an assistant teacher with a decent salary. Rusha feels so enlightened and happy. But she thinks that she will not tell the great news to Rubel right now,rather she will unlock this news infront of the Rubel's whole family.
In the evening, Rusha's home has been decorated well. Her family has welcomed Rubel and his family. Soon,the two families are engaged with their own gossips.
“Let's fix the date of the marriage of Rubel and Rusha. We have seen them to grow together. They will be a perfect match for each other.”,says Rubel's father.
“Uncle, I have a great news for all of you. Guess what! I get a job in a reputed English medium school! I have told to Rubel about my interview some days ago. And I have cracked the opportunity. “,says Rusha.
“What?? Job!!! A woman can not go for a job. It is against our family tradition and Rubel knows well about it. “,says Rubel's father.
“Rubel, is it true? You never tell me about such bullshit tradition of your family! My family never neglects me for being a girl. They have tried their utmost to provide me proper education and whatever I needed! Since my childhood I dream of becoming independent in every respect, whether it's economically or socially. It’s been twelve long years that we are in a steady relationship and now,I have to listen about such foolish tradition of your family! I am sorry, uncle. I don't want to hurt the sentiment of your family. But it does not match my sense of equality. “,says Rusha.
“Don't be so nagging, Rusha! Can't you sacrifice your job for me? You love me,naah! Please come out from your silly middle class sentiments. If your family needs any kind of financial help, my family will be happy to do that. My mother, aunties are all housewives and they are happy enough. I can assure you that you will also be happy as a housewife. “,says Rubel.
“Well, the same can be asked to you. Can't you sacrifice your family tradition for marrying me? I can never allow my family to live as a parasite. They have their own daughter to support them in every respect. And Rubel, I would like to be as much a housewife as I would like to be a working lady. And thus a girl becomes a lady taking up her own decision of coursing her life to the way she wishes to go.
