We have a tendency to assume that if someone is conducting business in that manner on the side of the road, they have no other option. He obviously had options, though. He could have easily taken the "easier" route and decided to work as a gardener or something similar, earning a lot less money than he does. But he came to appreciate the advantages of working for oneself, including the ability to avoid paying taxes or use legal strategies to do so. Tax evasion, which is the use of unethical methods to avoid paying taxes and is a crime, is not the same as this.
My entire perspective of him was altered. I had the utmost regard and admiration for him. Is it possible that he inspired me? Although he did not have a formal education by the standards of society, it was clear that he was extremely brilliant and well-versed in life. Apparently, I'm street smart.
Once we leave school, most of us know that it is not as much a matter of college degrees or outstanding grades that count," as Robert Kiyosaki once said. Sometimes more than just grades are necessary outside of the classroom in the real world. It has also been referred to as "guts," "chutzpah," "bravado," "cunning," "daring," "tenacity," and “brilliance.” Whatever it is called, this aspect eventually determined someone's destiny much more so than their academic performance.
If only more people had his way of thinking. If only more people had the self-confidence and self-assurance to know they could survive on their own without relying solely on a job contract for security. We could all take a chance if only more of us did it.
He was obviously not leading the life he had finally envisioned, but he was making the best of the circumstances he was in. I could only assume that he intended to leave his current location and find a better one. That's the only way a man could be working with such zeal, persistence, and concentration. He must be motivated by the prospect of a better tomorrow for himself and his family.
I reflected on how many people have jobs that hardly cover their necessities and how many don't work at all because they can't find employment. Does this individual have anything that may be learned from him? Could there possibly be something these individuals are doing to cooperate? It might not feel right, seem inappropriate, or be uncomfortable, but it might be a step in the right path. How many of our university graduates who are competing for scarce, low-paying jobs can genuinely succeed in a firm like the one this man runs?
Although you might not expect to see a graduate working on a street corner washing cars, how would you feel if you learned that he might make more money there than in a luxury office wearing a tie? I have my doubts. Now that I think about it, I wonder how many people who have their cars washed by him are aware that he earns more money doing it than they do in a stable job.
Having a job is beneficial. As long as it achieves its goal of enabling you to make money while also learning and growing, that is. It is no longer sufficient to work your entire life and count on a pension to support you in old age. Times have changed.
Study your work as much as you can. You will eventually need to use this information to produce your own work. Build something that will enable you to live a much better life than receiving a prize for being the most devoted or longest-serving employee rather than being the employer.
