Well as per Wikipedia “Income is money what an individual or business receives in exchange for providing labor, producing a good or service, or through investing capital.” Is it only the monetary achievement or something else can be its definition…
Arvind and Kajol are childhood best friends. After completing their higher education both of them drifted apart for their career growth. 10 years later, Arvind is now a senior manager in a reputed IT firm and Kajol owns an NGO that sponsors the education of children. They decided to meet on their alumni function. That night arrived, they hugged each other tight and the endless talk began. Arvind's discussion was revolving around income. He told “Kajol i have finally become successful, I am earning in 6 digits and am very happy. What about you?” Kajol replied “I have also become the one that I always dreamt of, I may not be earning in digits but you know the smile that I see when a child gets his/her first pencil to write and a dream of drawing down all that comes to her mind definitely makes me feel I'm at the top of the world.”
This small conversation between two best friends may not impact many but it hit me hard.
The definition of ‘Happiness’ are immeasurable. Each and every individual find their happiness in some or other ways. The conversation that Arvind and Kajol had depicts that for some money is happiness and for some emotional touch is. Arvind finds monetary happiness whereas Kajol finds happiness in putting a hope in others.
Let me share one of my personal story. I still remember the glow in my eyes on waking up on 1st of each month in the morning and checking my messages that showed “Your account has been credited with Rs xxxxxx.” “But is this the real happiness?” I questioned myself one day and the answer ‘Yes’ was not heart felt. Today I am a part of an NGO that sponsors education of children and now when I ask myself the same question I do get a warm ‘YES’.
Happiness doesn't mean getting everything you want but it lies in sharing and helping as the best way to multiply your happiness is by doing a bit for the one who actually need a helping hand.
Helping hands are always better than praying lips.
