1.Discover hidden treasures at the Louvre

The Venus de Milo and the crowd-pleasing Mona Lisa      in the Denon wing are just two of the many                        attractions in this enormous former castle. Discover the   surviving pieces of the 12th-century fortress that once stood here in the Mediaeval Louvre, marvel at the sarcophagi in the Department of Egyptian Antiquities or peruse the Department of Islamic Art's astoundingly sizable collection, which is housed in its own dedicated wing.

2.Drink in the views from the world's most famous tower

Despite being a well-known landmark, the Eiffel Tower never ceases to astonish visitors with its iron latticework, 2.5 million rivets, and the excitement of the vintage lifts. The top, at a height of almost 1,000 feet, continues to be the best vantage point in Paris, and the second level observation platform offers a 360-degree panorama of the city's monuments. Come at night to enjoy the tower's sparkling five-minute intervals.

Insider’s tip: Tickets bought in advance must be reserved for a specific slot; otherwise, note that queues are shorter if you come late at night, or if you walk up as far as the second level – 704 steps – and then buy tickets for the very top.

3.Indulge your inner child at Disneyland

You enter a different universe that consists of the major Disneyland Park, the smaller Walt Disney Studios Park with a film theme, and Festival Disney with performances, dining options, and gift stores about 27 miles (45 km) east of Paris. The teacup ride and parades captivate young children, while the Star Wars-themed Hyper Space Mountain and the eerie Tower of Terror delight older children (including adults).

4.Ogle the world's most incredible stained-glass

In order to contain the Crown of Thorns and other holy relics, Louis IX (Saint Louis) constructed the spectacular stained-glass structure Sainte Chapelle in the middle of the 13th century. Palace staff worked on the bottom level with the star-painted vaulting. The upper level is a colorful gothic masterpiece with magnificent stained glass, where hundreds of roundels represent themes from the Old Testament and the Crucifixion. It was built with the royal family and clergy in mind.

5.Watch a match at one of the world's most iconic stadiums

The Stade de France in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, is a great location to experience French sporting atmosphere. The atmosphere is casual and cheerful with lots of waving tricolores, music, and spilling pints of beer; the conventions of Parisian contact are discarded here. For international matches (football and rugby), there are frequently last-minute tickets still available.
