In this episode, we'll discuss Time.. time classification. As we all know, categorisation is used to make things easier. Like this one. It's easier to eat sliced than whole. More on that later. The dates and times given in the video are estimates. No offence to history, people, cows, or potatoes. Use discretion. Any region's past can be separated into two parts: history and prehistory. Distinction is based on the availability of ‘Historic Records' from that timeframe What is a historic record now? Inscriptions or copperplates or anything readable are the records. They should not be made up. Say that religious scriptures alone do not count as reliable records because they do not give us accurate information on their political situation, such as cities, kings, kingdoms, events, etc. These paintings also depict the people's daily lives, but not specific events. For example, we have no idea what these ladies are doing. To be a reliable record, an account must be cross-referenced with these contextual evidences. So "History" is the period with records and "Prehistory" is the period without. In India, prehistoric records go back to the 6th century BC. Easy, right? Nope! Then we add a third epoch between them: Protohistory! And this person is from that era. Why is Prehistory so difficult? We have records from that time period, but we can't read them. Do you know it? If you don't, he does. It is the Indus Valley Civilization's "Mohenjo-daro" location. These seals were found at Indus Valley Civilization sites. Their inscriptions are in the Indus Script, which we haven't deciphered yet. So these records are currently useless. *sad music* So let's take a look back. History- reliable documents from prehistory and protohistory. These times are further subdivided for easier study. The prehistoric period is split based on tool development. the Paleolithic era of stone tool use Second, the Mesolithic era of microlith usage. So man was a hunter-gatherer. So he learned farming and settled. The Neolithic Age began. It is also divided into three parts based on the metals used. Let's start with the copper age. In the bronze period, humanity built some amazing cities. As these But it also overlaps with the protohistoric and historic periods. Finally, the historical period is classified by rulers. In this period lived Buddha, Ashoka, Kushan and Gupta. In 1191, foreign ruler Mohammed Ghori overthrew Indian king Prithviraj Chauhaan. Third, the British Raj in India after defeating the Marathas in 1818. So this was all about categorising India's past. Like the video? Like the article! Remember to share and follow.
