Hi this is part 2 of Gold floating in space is now known that gold and platinum are formed during the collisions of neutron stars. What is a neutron star?
In general, the protons and neutrons are grouped together in the nucleus of the atom. The number of these is different for each element. Electrons are located around the center of the atom. The number of these is equal to the number of protons in the element.
These electrons are like gatekeepers. Electrons in an atom cannot be repelled. But you can drive away the bees in the hive with a torch. If there is such a terrible heat, the electrons will be trapped and run away.
The temperature at the core of the Sun is about 15 million degrees (Celsius). In this condition, hydrogen atoms join together and atomization occurs as electrons are attracted and run away.
A neutron star does not have individual atoms. Everything is neutrons. Let's assume that if an electron joins a proton, it becomes a neutron. What happens if an electron enters all the protons in a neutron star at that size and they become neutrons?
If the sun is a cotton candy then a neutron star is a kamarkattu. If we assume that the sun suddenly becomes a neutron star, its diameter will be about 30 kilometers. What is the reason?
Any atom has a lot of vacancies. If the nucleus of an atom is a football placed in the middle of a large field, the electrons are at the edge of the field. At that level, any atom has a vacancy.
But if protons, neutrons, and electrons are not separate in the atom, all the neutrons will disappear. That's why a neutron star is incredibly dense. So if the Sun becomes a neutron star, its weight (mass) does not decrease. Only its size decreases.
So when neutron stars collide, a lot of neutrons are emitted. When these collide with atoms already present in space, atoms like gold and platinum are formed.
These gold-platinum atoms are tiny particles floating in space. However, hydrogen is the most abundant gas in the universe. At some point, this hydrogen will coalesce into a large clump and form a star.
The said gold and platinum atoms are also contained in that star in the form of a type of gas.. So when the star is fully formed, the planets also appear. Those planets also contain gold.
Gold is found in the rocks that form when the planets, which were originally a mixture of fire, cooled and solidified. We pulverize those rocks and extract gold from them and wear them as jewellery. The gold we wear is the product of space.
