Hello everyone, I'm so glad to share my first blog to you friends. I have many interesting thoughts and ideas which I will be sharing with you people in blogs. In this blog we will be seeing about chess and why it starts from white's side.

Chess is an international game, originated in the Indian sub continent in the prehistorical period. The name for ancient chess is Chaturanga. Later, the game became popular among several dynasties and started spreading among various kingdoms. This game helped the ancient emperors to create strategy, to represent the symbols of army in the ancient period like infantry, cavalry, elephantry and charioty also helped the young princes to understand the war strategy. Then this game spread across different kingdoms and each created their own playing method. After many decades, today's chess is standardized by the World Chess Federation(FIDE), and has standard rules to play.

Many things were changed in chess, but playing with the white pieces wasn't significantly changed for years. Some people blamed this method as the white people's racial connotation. But that was not true. Traditionally black is considered as a lucky color, so the game started with white pieces to provide some advantage to black. It was coin tossed or discussed among the players to play with black color pieces. The game was played according to their own choice of color. Later chess became popular in Europe in 18th century. To record the game strategy, authors started to write some books on chess. They wrote the books by starting the game with white pieces. In many chess books it was strategically composed in the white's perspective.

In late 18th century, there was another game called checkers became popular. That game too composed with black and white colors. But in checkers the game starts with the black color. To consider changes with these two games, the authors were requested to compose the book by considering the white's move first. The people whoever study those books assume with the white pieces to make their first move. This was practiced for several years. Finally, in 1880, the America conducted a chess tournament. In that tournament, playing with the white pieces was considered as a rule. Many international champions concluded playing their first move with white. Finally, in 19th century, the International Federation of Chess was created. It came into action and converted the white's move first into a rule. Since, it is practiced to start the chess game with white's move.
