Welcome back to my new blog and thank you for reading my previous ones.
It's likely that you have read the story of ‘The Kingdom of Fools’ somewhen in your childhood. And in case you haven't, as the story goes-
There are a guru and his disciple who live their life by going around villages and towns and move on after staying for a while. On one fine day, they reach a strange and weird kingdom where they seemed to find no one. After a while they realised that everyone was actually in their houses sleeping in the day! And as the sun started to set, they all came out and went for work. They did this because the king had ordered them to do so. Also, every single thing getting sold at the shops cost the same amount! This made the disciple decide to stay there forever inspite of the fear and warning of the guru.
One day there was a case of a person who had died after a wall fell on him while he was trying to break into a merchant's house for burglary. The burglar's brother accused the merchant while the merchant, in order to escape, blamed the wall mason. The mason pointed to a lady with a tinkling anklets who went up and down the streets and distracted him. The lady blamed the goldsmith who called her again and again for her gold anklets who blamed a rich merchant who wanted his order to be finished first. Unforunately, that merchant had died but his son was the same merchant whose house the burglar went to.
The merchant was finally found to be guilty and was ordered to be executed. A new stake was built for him which turned out to be too big for him. Hence they chose the disciple who had grown fat by eating too much to be executed in place of the merchant.
Now, the disciple was in a trouble. He prayed for the guru, who mystically appeared and scolded him at first. Then at the last of the story, The guru using his intelligence somehow saved the disciple from getting executed in vain.
This is a humorous play for portraying the risks of staying with foolish people. But think about it, is it really just an imagination or can it be practical as well?
Actually there is no such exact place but the story isn't completely imaginary or hypothetical. Actually it is derived from the condition of most of the people in the world. If I ask you, why do you think did the people obey to such a stupid order the king passed. The answer might seem to be that they were all fools, so they did all without thinking. But actually not.
Rather than saying that they were fools, we should say that they were getting fooled by everyone around them. Imagine yourself to be one of them. The king just passed an order to sleep in the morning and stay awake at night. Despite being a foolish decision, the people around you agree to it. You don't have enough knowledge to judge the decision and hence you simply do what others do.
That's the problem of most people. Due to lack of knowledge people can't make the right decision and rather do what people around them do without thinking while the people around them would be doing the same. In this way, large mass of people live in the influence of a few people who are likely to make the wrong decisions. And seeing this people purposely spread wrong information which quickly spreads to the masses like a virus.
Be careful while following the masses, because sometimes the ‘m’ is silent.
Always be careful while reading a post on social media, while listening to news or even while listening to what people around you say because that person might be someone belonging to ‘The Kingdom of Fools’.
Thanks a lot for reading till the last and keep reading my posts.
And consider following.
