My Love For Game Development

Ever since I was little I loved to play video games. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have a big brother interested in gaming as well. Because of him, I was also able to play games on his computer. When I reached 8th standard my love for games continuously increased as I played more and more AAA games. I completed almost all of the GTA series, Prince Of Persia series, NFS, Kung Fu Panda, Max Payne, Total Overdose, Infernal, Eragon, and tons and tons more that I didn't even recall all of them.

Immersing myself in an entirely different world, where I can do anything I want, I can fly, I can steal cars, I can break laws, I can even train a dragon and slay goblins is an experience I just can't resist.

So I decided in 8th standard only that I wanted to be a game developer. I didn't know how to be one, I just knew I want to make games.

And here I am today pursuing my B. Tech from IITD in mechanical engineering, you may say I am doing well in my life considering my college's prestige but I am not. I have drifted way away from my dream of becoming a game developer. My family does not want me to travel my own road, they don't want me to have an insecure job, for them making games is good for a hobby but as foolish move as jumping from a building if you want to make living off of it. Well, they are kind of right, most of the small indie developers can't even get back the production cost of the games. Raising a family alongside being an indie developer is known as the Indie Dream here. Let me repeat just barely raising a family without any debt is a dream here.

Although it can be hard for the majority, there are solo developers who are earning way more than any professional would earn in an entire year, daily. Yes, you heard it right. Mojang (creator of Minecraft), and ConcernedApe(creator of Stardew Valley) are some of the examples.

But I didn't even wanna be a solo indie developer. I want to be working on AAA games. I want to join big giant companies like Activision, EA Games, and Rockstar Games, and work on games I grew up playing .So , now I have decided that I will put my degree on hold and work on my skills as a game developer and turn my dream into reality
