Hello everyone, welcome to my today's blog.

In parts 1 and part 2, I cover inventions in the field of coal and the iron and the textile industry.

So, today we discuss the inventions in the field of steam power.

After the Awareness about steam that it could make tremendous power was decisive to large-scale industrialization. Water's pressure power has been a great source of energy for quite a long time, however, it had been restricted to specific areas, seasons, and by the flowing speed of the water. Presently, it was used in a different way.

steam power gave pressure at high temperatures that empowered the use of different types of machinery. This shows that steam power was a very important source of energy that was trustworthy and cheap enough for the manufacturing machinery itself. The mining industry was the first industry that used Steam power. As the requirements of coal and metals increasing, efforts to acquire them from ever-deeper mines increase. and the Problem of flooding in mines was serious.

So, here are some Inventions of Steam power: -

  1. Thomas Savery- In 1698, he developed a model of the steam engine to drain mines called the “the Miner's Friend”. This Steam engine worked gradually, in shallow depths, and the boiler explodes under an excessive amount of pressure.

2. Thomas Newcomen- developed another type of steam engine in 1712. But, this Steam engine had a major fault of losing energy because of the continuous cooling of the condensing cylinder. This steam engine was used in coal mines only.

3. James Watt-  In 1769, He invented the machine that converted the steam engine from being a mere pump into a ‘Prime mover which is capable of giving energy to power machines in factories.

Backed by the wealthy manufacturer Mathew Boulton, In 1775, Watt developed the Soho Foundry in Birmingham, England. From this foundry, Watt's steam engines were created in constantly developing numbers.

Before At the end of the eighteenth century,  James Watt steam engine was started to replace hydraulic power 1800,  Innovations in steam engines was furthermore developed by using lighter, stronger metals, the developed more efficient machine tools and the spread of better scientific knowledge. British Steam engines were generating more than 70% of all European horsepower during 1840.
