Man, I was amazed by my little blog interaction with Shifanaaz112. It was a great pleasure talking to someone willing to help strangers. Well, anyway let's get started on today's topic i.e. self-discipline.
As many of you may know if you read my blogs, I am currently studying B.tech in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Delhi, one of the most prestigious institutes in our country, and getting into such a high-brand college was not easy at all.
You need to put in at least 6-7 hours each day for 2 years to have a relatively high probability of passing. But still, there is a possibility of failure. It may sound horribly painful to some of you and Yes, it is indeed horribly painful. The preparation and the examination test you both emotionally, psychologically, and physically. After all sitting for 6 hours a day, not having any form of entertainment (which during the preparation phase is known as a distraction ), and still not being able to score marks in mock tests is indeed painful and a great test for one's patience.
The only thing that helped me get through my journey successfully was self-discipline. It helped me get off the bed when I don't want to, each day. It helped me study even on the day of my sister's wedding. It made me who I am today.
So what is self-discipline?
I will not search the internet for its actual definition. I will write what I believe is correct so feel free to not agree.
It is the force that makes you do things that are in your best interest, even if they are not interesting. It is the force that makes you follow a schedule. And man “Schedule is kning”. If you can follow a schedule, not for a single day, not for a month, but for years no one in the world can stop you. And Yes, I can guarantee this. It makes you go through the valley of disappointment, the phase when you are putting effort but the outputs are not visible. It makes you go through the phase when no one is clapping for you, instead, everyone is laughing and mocking you for choosing a goal, they think is unreachable. Building self-discipline takes time. For me, it took around 3 months, and some failed test results. The best thing you could do to build self-discipline is stick to time table .
