CSK vs GT IPL 2023 Final Live Streaming: After 73 games, the two most reliable teams square off in the championship match.
Gujarat Titans were able to reach 214/4 in 20 overs thanks to the impressive quick-fire fifty from Sai Sudharsan (96 off 41) and Wriddhiman Saha's crucial half-century (54 off 39).
Despite facing a disorganised bowling lineup, Sudharsan played several breath-taking strokes and maintained a perfect appearance throughout his whole innings. In addition to Sudharsan and Saha, other key batsmen included Shubman Gill (39 off 20) and Hardik Pandya (21 off 12).
With openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad at the crease and chasing a huge mark, CSK scored four runs in the first three deliveries of the innings before rain suspended the game. After a lengthy delay caused by a soggy outfield, play finally began at 12:10 am, with CSK's amended aim being to pursue.
Conway and Gaikwad both arrived with the intention of attacking, which gave CSK an immediate advantage. They hit Md Shami, Hardik Pandya, and even Rashid Khan with some exquisite strokes, bringing CSK to 52/0 in the updated four-over Power-play.
The Gujarat Titans were in desperate need of a wicket, and left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed provided it by dismissing Gaikwad (26 off 16). In addition to Gaikwad, the young Afghan spinner also got rid of Conway, who had a risky appearance, to put CSK in a vulnerable position.
Ajinkya Rahane and Impact Substitute Shivam Dube, two fresh batters, were at the crease and faced a daunting assignment. Rahane once again displayed his talent, as he has done throughout this season.
Though Rahane was in excellent form and guided CSK to 112 for 2 in 10 overs, Dube was having trouble with his timing. The experienced Mohit Sharma bowled with an excellent change of pace to lay on the pressure of dots and singles in order to eventually lure Rahane (27 off 13 balls) just as it seemed like CSK were cruising towards the objective.
Dube ended Rashid's over with two consecutive sixes, continuing the back-and-forth struggle, leaving the four-time champions to chase 38 runs off the next 18 balls. Ambati Rayudu then proceeded to knock 6, 4, and 6 against Mohit to dwarf the target in his final IPL match, but he was dismissed on the following ball.
Dhoni had the chance to pull off the ideal ending when he went out to bat with 22 needed off of 14 but it wasn't meant to be as the CSK captain blasted the ball straight to cover for a first-ball duck. After Shami's excellent penultimate over, Dube and Jadeja failed to knock any extras, leaving Mohit to defend 13 in six balls.
Only three runs were scored in the first four balls thanks to Mohit Sharma's outstanding yorker bowling. Jadeja, however, had other ideas, as he hit a six and a four in the final two deliveries to give CSK a thrilling five-wicket victory and a record sixth championship.
When chosen to bat first earlier, openers Gill and Saha were rather cautious in their approach in the opening two overs against Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, but they also benefited from some shoddy fielding.
Deepak Chahar was positioned at backward square by CSK captain M.S. Dhoni in the second over of the innings, thrown by Deshpande. Gill struck the ball precisely there, but the bowler was unable to collect it, shifting the momentum in Gujarat's favour.
From that point on, Gill and Saha took on Chahar and Deshpande. Gujarat Titans accelerated to 62/0 at the conclusion of the Power-play, outscoring even spinner Maheesh Theeksana, who entered the game to bowl the sixth over.
Due to a usually quick and amazing glovework from Dhoni, it was Ravindra Jadeja who handed CSK their first success by removing the dangerous Gill. The batter had no time to even consider returning to the crease when Gill dragged his rear leg out due to Dhoni's quick movements.
It took Sai Sudharsan a little while to get going after the middle overs' lethargy. The left-handed batsman had the captain, Hardik Pandya, at the other end, but he assumed the responsibility for a rapid run-scoring rate. Sudharsan accelerated to fifty off 32 balls thanks in part to some shoddy bowling from Theekshana and Pathirana.
With the aid of one six and three fours, Sudharsan bludgeoned Deshpande for 20 runs in an over after hitting his fifty-run mark. Gujarat had 173/2 in 17 overs and appeared poised to post a significant score.
Tushar Deshpande was run out for 18 runs by Pandya and Sai Sudharsan in the following over, bowled by Pathirana, as nothing was going well for the CSK bowlers against the fearsome Titans batting lineup.
Pathirana arrived to bowl the final over, and the first two balls were welcomed by sixes. Sudharsan's career, however, came to an end when the Sri Lankan pacer trapped him in front of the wicket.
As Gujarat Titans finished with 214/4 on the board, Pathirana only gave up two runs in the following three deliveries while also dismissing Rashid Khan.
Brief ratings:
Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings 171/5 in 15 overs (revised target) (Devon Conway 47, Ajinkya Rahane 27, Shivam Dube 32 not out, Ravindra Jadeja 15 not out; Mohit Sharma 3-36, Noor Ahmad 2-17) by five wickets using the DLS method (Sai Sudharsan 96, Wriddhiman Saha 54; Matheesha Pathirana 2-44).
It will be intriguing to see how the Chennai Super Kings perform in the future and when we will see Chennai Super Kings winning moments once more as the IPL's popularity grows. The club will surely be one of the top favourites to win the tournament's next iterations because to a solid core of players and a veteran captain in MS Dhoni.💛💙
