Man Search For Meaning is the deepest book about life I have read in the past decade .After reading Tuesday with Morrie by Mitch Albom I did not think that any other book could change my view about life and death again but Man Search For Meaning completely passed my expectations . It completely changed my view , my opinion about life . I have read several books (100+). And after reading all those books the one thing I got to know, about books is that never trust it's preface as every book has infinite appreciation about that book in it's preface which is often not justified .
Typically, if a book has one passage, one idea with the power to change a person’s life, that alone justifies reading and re-reading it and finding room for it on one’s shelves. This book has several such passages.
This a line from It's preface and I can guarantee that it is not exaggerated
It's the story of Viktor E Frankl about his time as a prisoner in the Nazi network of Concentration Camp . This book is not at all about the suffering ,the losses he faced ,but about how he managed to survive in such a hard time .When everyone around him , his friends , his comrades were giving up their hopes and their lives how he survived .
The most renowned quote from the book
, “He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How.”
is enough to completely summarize the book .
The only reason why Frankl managed to survive the hell and was able to walk out of it alive was because he had a reason to survive . He had his wife waiting for him , he had to publish his finding which were confiscated from him at the time he entered the camp .
He shares a story of one of his friend who died immediately after loosing his hope . He had a dream in which god told him that he would be released from this hell on 30th may and he got a meaning to survive longer . But as the time passed and 30th may were few days away and there were no signs of his release , he and everyone else could see his hope disappearing . On 30th may , he lost his hope completely and died .
This has so much to learn from that a blog like this is not enough for its appreciation .
