So today we will be talking about Medusa, a greek mythological entity

Medusa, a woman with snake hairs, is obviously one of the most popular cratures in greek mythology. But she didnt always had snakes on her head. She is the daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, who are the primordial sea gods. Initially, Medusa was a very beautiful and graceful woman, with normal hairs.

She was the thief of the hearts of people who saw her. But still she was very pure and innocent, even though she was filled with seductive appearance. She used to admire the goddess Athena. And she decided to be a priestess of Athena's temple. And obviously, because of the reputation of a preistess  virginity and purity were required. And Medusa was perfect for it. People even visited the temple more just to admire her. And apparently, goddess Athena became very jealous for Medusa having the most beautiful hair in all of Greece.

One fine day, a citizen claimed that Medusa's hair might even be prettier than thos of Athena. Athena somehow suppressed  her jealousy at that time. But one day,   Posiedon, the god of the seas, saw Medusa and fell in love with her right away. Yet Medusa resisted the flirtatious nature of the god, Poseidon. Poseidon, filled with anger, gwts obsessed with having her as his lover.  As Medusa runs to get away from him, he follows her right into the temple of Athena and rapes her in front of the statue.

After all this violence, the goddess Athena punishes the priestess Medusa as she possibly cannot lay a finger on Poseidon, and also she thought of his act as the nature of a man. So she held Medusa responsible for seducing the god Poseidon and bringing shame to the temple. As a punishment, she turns Medusa's beautiful hairs into snakes. And as curse her, so that any person who looks into Medusa's eyes would instantly turn into a stone statue.

Furthermore, Medusa now was chased by a warrior who wanted her head as a trophy for his bravery. And as they looked in her eyes for once, they were turned into stone.

Medusa finally was killed by decapitation (beheaded) by Perseus. But there was a secret that no one knew, which was that Medusa was carrying a child of Poseidon. And with her death, was born Chrysaor (Khrysaor) and the Pegasus horse.

I think that it was a really tragic and unfair backstory of Medusa. Let me know what you think of it.
