Before the beginning if the very existence of anything, there was a void, a huge void known as Genungaga. Between the worlds of muspelheim and nifulheim, the icy land of mists began to fill this huge void, ginnungagap and it formed a huge block of ice. As the temperature of muspelheim rose, the heat produced fire that melted the great ice stone.
And from that ice, came Imir, a deity who had gone into hibernation within that ice. After that the heat of the muspelheim made the creature sweat. And from his sweat emerged the very first living beings. Not only did ymir emerged from the ice alone, but a huge cow called Arhumbla also emerged and from her teeths flowed four different rivers that were helpful to feed ymir. The cow fed by licking the salty ice around and as she consumed all the ice, a new creature emerged from within. This was Buri, the progenitor of the gods. Ymir began giving rise to yoten by generating lives. Buri along with a giant gave birth to bor. Bor united with the giant Besla to give birth to Odin and his brothers.
Odin and his brothers got very bored with noting to much to do as there were not any skies, seas, land or forests yet in the ginnungagap. They decided to do something as only the death of Ymir could be the beginning of the world. So the brothers attacked and killed Ymir. And so the oceans were born from her blood, from her flesh grew dry land and the mountains were the great bones of her body. Also, from her flesh emerged the dwarves and the elves. The dwarves would live their live under the grounds of earth and the noble elves were to live in Elflheim. So that was how the earth, Midgard, was formed but still there were not any living beings to inhabit the earth. So the brothers thought that they would use the material and create mankind.
So from the logs, a man named Ask and a woman named Embla were created. And it is believed that all the humans have come from this one couple. As Odib was the one to give life to the first couple, he is known as the father of all. And then they crated the land of Asgard, the home to gods. And this world was different and separated by the others with only connection of the bifrost bridge. And this was how the gods ruled over the world.
